Can geography save your life in case of, say, a zombie apocalypse? Understanding the push and pull factors that create geographic movement -- or how people, resources, and even ideas travel -- might help you determine the location that's best for survival. David Hunter playfully analyzes the geography skills that you'd need to escape the zombies.

It seems like this video said a lot of nothing. How to survive a zombie apocalypse - go where there are supplies and people. I think we've got that figured out.

Great job, TED-Ed! The way you used zombie apocalypse as an analogy for discussing human migration is something fantastic.

If were being honest a zombie apocalypse would be about as threatening as a snuggly kitten apocalypse. Movies and shows break so many simple rules to make the threat seem extra spooky.

Social media is so big right now that anything even remotely resembling a zombie infection would explode into the spotlight within 3 hours. Zombie's don't win anything without overwhelming numbers and even giving them double that (6 hours) wouldn't be enough even in a massive city for an organized military force not to be able to snuff it out.

If were looking past that and saying that maybe it happened on a global level all at once and couldn't be isolated then you still need to consider how the human body works. Unless they run on magic the human body still need's energy in order to keep going. Even zombies need to obey the basic laws of the universe.

AND even looking past that if somehow they did run on perpetual energy and wasn't able to be contained then you still need to consider that in every zombie based fiction ever they are considered dead. Their body has the base temperature of the day and doesn't produce any more heat then a vegetable. So....What happens when they hit any region that drop's below freezing?
They somehow manage to not freeze up and keep going? o_O

I could keep going on..but yeah, I think the whole zombie subject is kind of silly. :x

Probably one of the weakest TED videos ever done. It did not present any new information, ideas, or concepts.
Honestly felt like someone just picked a random popular topic (zombies), and wrote a vague and bland script so they did not have to do any actual research or critical thinking.
... but the animation was very nice.

What i have learned in this video: What is Migration?

In movies, zombies more slow as fuck and the only reason they manage to bite someone is because that someone is really fucking stupid, completely unable to fight and unaware of what's going on around them.

"oh, there are zombies everywhere around me, but let me reload my shotgun while not looking behind or walking away, I'm sure I'll be fine."

"the zombie is probably dead, but let's examine it with my hand, just to be sure."

"a zombie grabbed me, so I'll just sit here and scream while it bites the shit out of me, instead of fighting back.

You didn't answer the Damn question... all you said is: "it's helpful to be knowledgeable in geography"

First you need a group, preferably people you already know, like friends and family.
Then you gotta stock up on food and water.
Get a vehicle or two, depending on your group side. Trucks or vans with lots of storage are probably an advantage.
Get weapons, knives, bats, golf clubs, any sort of weapon that you can find in your house.
Then find more intense weapons, like guns, at a police station or something.
Honestly, getting fruit and vegetable seeds would be smart.
Then you should find a good place to set up, consider everything. Near a water source, good fertile land to grow crops, easy to defend, etc.

That's the ideal plan, but honestly, nothing will go according to plan during an apocalypse. You'll always end up playing it by ear.

Worst ted talk ever. No offense, but for pitys' sakes I was expecting information on how where to go if/when there's a zombie apocalypse, and all I got was a lecture on migration studies. I call cheat on this.
