The idea of achieving work-life balance is a beautiful dream; it's also quite impossible, as we should realise without bitterness or frustration.

Great quote on this topic: “A master in the art of living draws no sharp distinction between his work and his play; his labor and his leisure; his mind and his body; his education and his recreation. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence through whatever he is doing, and leaves others to determine whether he is working or playing. To himself, he always appears to be doing both.” -Lawrence Jacks

Thank you for making this video. It really speaks to the situation I'm in now. Here in America, its been pretty trendy lately to rubber stamp all of society's problems with negative liberty. "Anything is possible; you're just lazy." Time is not a renewable resource. Devoting time to one thing always means taking it away from somewhere else. Don't speak to me about "success." You can't be good at one thing without being bad at something else

Once, I heard a version of this from a very smart person: "you can be anything, but you can't be everything."

We have been conditioned to believe that we have to be the jack of all trades to get a job. This is all because of employers' unreasonable demands; Instead of paying a group of highly skilled individuals, they rely on one person to do everything. This cheap cost-cutting trick is actually damaging to the company, the economy, and society as a whole. We can't be the best at everything, it's unrealistic. Suppose everyone was good at everything, they will have to keep up to date with everything too. Doesn't sound practical but good luck with that.

I understand what the video is saying, it's good. But society doesn't allow us to invest in our hobbies and passions because all our time is taken to work all day everyday just to pay bills.

All I can get to this video is that if you wanna be good at something or be less stressed just focus on one thing and thats really helpful to me

focousing on being good enough in importartant aspects of life rather than trying to be perfect in each of them, is the best thing we can do.

I love this channel. It's so full of realistic wisdom. I've been feeling blue, and people find it hard to console in a way that is both practical & understanding. This channel does just that, without even knowing me, which makes me think it has a good understanding of fundamental human fears and traits. I wish I could remind myself of such truths in moments of anxiety and sadness

there are people who work very few hours, make a lot of money and they have plenty of time for their own personal life. So it's not impossible. For most people work doesnt leave them much time for personal life and work it's self doesnt give them a lot of money either no matter how hard they work, they end up not succeeding in anything. There is a stupid belief which is convenient to some for us to believe that the harder you work the greater reward you'll have, which is completely false.

I also feel like this type of thinking could help control freaks (like me) delegate tasks to other people. If I trust others with little tasks, then the bigger tasks I focus on might turn out better.

Fun. Lighthearted. Catchy. It doesn't impose anything to anyone neither does it want anyone to change what he or she believes in. Rather, it presents a view which might not have been looked into by everyone - unusual, subjective but makes sense. Good points. People should watch this.

Why Pewdiepie has 38 million subscribers while The School of life has less than 300, 000 is beyond me. More people really need to watch this.

Paul Rand who designed the IBM logo was a graphic designer who said, "Don't try to be different, just try to be good." This was advice to young designers and a lesson I've learned myself. Striving for perfection can be admirable, but can increase the chances of failure in our work. Sometimes you've got to just strive to do a good job and the result will always be strong. I guess he understood what this video is telling us.

This video is one of the best that I ever watched from The School of Life. I know that very few people will agree with but, I am speaking from a personal point of view of course. This made think of a lot of things that preoccupies me, and it is helping me build wisdom and acceptance.

Thanks, The School Of Life for providing such an insightful knowledge about the work-life balance. It is really satisfying to know that it is impossible to have work-life balance

I love this channel, whoever does the voiceover has the smoothest voice in the world. I don't find the content nor uplifting, nor depressing, just gives me something to think about before going to sleep (perhaps explains the insomnia).
