In addition to his top job and family, he also had a mistress, so he really knows something about effective time management.

After reading about his employees' working conditions, listening to this talk, honestly, is quite disgusting.

work life balance is like a 9-5 job term. Entrepreneurs just work all the time and do things at any time they need to it's not really structured.

There is no work life balance at Amazon when you have to work for 80 hours a week.

Nice statement, "If I am happy at home, it make me a better employee, a better boss" .

Yeah, for so long, i still got stucked when being asked about work-life balance and I dont understand why people always try to find a clear line between work and life like dont bring work to home or sth like that but we're humans, not robots so it's hard to completely separate work and life. And that's why I love the term work-life harmony. Thank you.

Seeing that his wife left him for a school teacher, I’m not sure If he was the one taking away energy or giving it lol.

Is peeing into the plastic bottle at work is included into the new "work-life harmony" term too?

I wonder how many of his employees on zero hour contracts have a good “work life harmony”

Ya "work life harmony" works when ur business is established and don't need to stress about money but when you are getting started or worried about money to provide for your family it's about balance

Having to work 91hrs a week, that’s 13hrs a day, 7 days a week in Bowling Green KY. I have to say, I’ve quit my job. The money was good enough for me to quit and find something else, 51hrs of overtime does that. Don’t ever sacrifice your life for a corporation, if you have to work your ass off in order to catch up, do it, but then tone it down and enjoy. Money isn’t everything, but debt sucks, live debt free and be truly free.

people who are criticizing him for being divorced are missing the point, sometimes marriages don't work what, so what? the point he is making is basically if you want to work in high tech or other competitive industries, you have to work hard, there is no other way around. If you want to be extremely successful thats the way to go, if on the other hand, you are ok with being modestly successful but happier and with more leisure, then you don't have work that hard, which is a more sane position, but they are mutually exclusive specially for people who are trying to create a business from scratch. One is not necessarily better than the other but the question here is, which is more important, the extra achievement praise and luxuries brought by outstanding success or the free time / leisure that you have thanks to not pursuing a path like Bezos' ? it's a very personal and contextual decision to be made, it's up to you

he should ask the workers at Amazon Fulfillment centers if they feel "energized" by their work. what self-congratulatory garbage.

It works for him because he is the boss.

Best Sales response there is. Work hard or find your passion elsewhere.

I guess all he wants is his employees to think that work is life and life is work fueling his home and his life (best balance).

Pretty funny hearing his advice now that he's divorced...

Hmm interesting perspective...he talks about people being out of work and having all the time in the world but many people probably work jobs requiring them to do stupid hours every week and become a corporate slave where they have to constantly prove themselves which after a while they feel like they need to escape because although pay is good they have no life whatsoever, and then quit.

Although they all have overcome a great many years of profound self-sacrifices, achieved incredible personal breakthrough progress in technology, wealth, power, and conventional fame to this date.
However, Mr. Jeff Bezos, many other great men, and the whole world continue neglecting and unable to identify some of the greatest, the most meaningful, and most needed projects to truly rescue and heal the many illnesses; desperately wounded bodies, souls, and broken spirits of the people throughout the land, not in space or Mars. *** Will the people are still alive and healthy when the heroes arrive?
Very best wishes always,
