That makes sense now when she was crying her tears burned her face and in the old movie water melted her. Water is her weakness

Poor Theadora, all she did was love and care, then her sister manipulated that so she could become evil and cruel. Then soon after she is killed, when you think about it, the wizard of oz is actually a very depressing and dark story...

I love how nonchalant she says, "it's just your heart withering away." Uhh, that sounds pretty serious to me.

She made her sister even more wicked than her. When Evanora wanted to have the munchkins run for their lives, Theodora--now wicked--wanted their red blood splattered upon the yellow brick road. Also, if you recall the original Oz, Glinda remarks that the Wicked Witch of the West was worse that the East Witch.

Theodora was innocent indeed, but her wickedness within was mixed in red anger, green envy, and fiery wrath. Something that even Evanora would never knew she would fear.

Oh the look on Evanora's face when she realizes she created a monster.

I am sad for Theodora, specially when we know that she never gets the chance to become the good witch she once was.
She was pushed into being evil.
That makes her the most tragic character here, because she had a broken heart and was clearly manipulated. :(

If there's one thing we can learn from movies it's DON'T TAKE APPLES FROM WTCHES.

The way Evanora talks about the spell...You'd almost think that Theodora wasn't the first person she used it on.

I remember watching this and it being my first favorite film as a child. Theodora was always my favorite character and this broke my heart 😭 she did not deserve this she was lovely.

What I loved most about Theodora's transformation is that, instead of being traumatized and heartbroken by it, she not only immediately embraces it, but plans to weaponize it against Oscar.

The best part of the film for me is when evanora smiles after theadora realizes her wickedness, because I'd never seen Rachael Weisz as a villain before, and she played it pretty well.

Poor Theodora, Oz, took away all her first experiences and threw them away like the cad he is. Her first time meeting a man, who she was told would be her husband. She was giving her first gift from a man. Her first dance, her first kiss, her first clandestine night. What she believed was her destiny, Oz robbed. Oz took away her innocence. Then she was betrayed by the one person who should have been her most trustworthy, her own sister. The two combined drove her insane with bitterness, hate and rage, she became a scorned woman. Theodora's heartbreak, and her sister's promise to make it all go away with magic made it easy to take a bite out of an apple. Once taken, that moment of a broken heart, broken promises, pain, betrayal and rage were locked in her heart forever. She became ugly, green with envy, and a fatal jealousy seeing Oz with Glenda. Theodora condemned herself to damnation forever and her evil heart and mind would never be humanely good ever again.

Does anyone catch the biblical reference in this scene? Theadora is offered a fruit under false pretenses thinking it will give her one thing and yet she ends up with an entirely different outcome. Furthermore, jealousy and covetousness (wanting to keep the throne from Glenda and Oz. Wanting to be the one Oz loves etc) is ultimately what causes her to snatch the apple out of her sister’s hand. Her sister, the deceiver, tells her that one bite will solve all of her problems. As soon as Theodora takes a bite of the apple her eyes are suddenly opened and she gains a knowledge and realization of who and what is truly good and who and what is truly evil. In her case she realizes that her sister is the “evil one” and that her sister has been deceiving her this entire time.

Her realization and knowledge comes at a cost though. She can never again return to the pure naive state She was in prior to eating that cursed fruit. She can’t take the eating of the apple back. To top it all off, eating the fruit causes her to become completely debased, and she gives over completely to a fallen and evil nature.

Poor Theadora, everyone she ever loved betrayed her. Her fate/destiny was unfair. Oz was a con and a womanizer. As far as I’m concerned he was never “good” or “great” but an opportunist, liar, and cheat.

When her sister said "Oh dear". It was as if she were saying "What have I done?". And that right there... told us that Theodora was FAR worse then her sister now! Just like the original movie said! It's little touches like that which makes a great prequel!
