The worst part is that your skin has to be super thin, the thinner the skin the better but just thick enough that it doesn't break while steaming or while you pick it up since oftentimes the skin sticks to the paper at the bottom of the steamer

When it comes to folding it’s the one part that’s super important. The knots you end up folding are crucial as the more you fold the better. Not to mention it has to look nice out of the steamer. (Mine is ugly tho it’s edible and delicious I’ll probably never reach my grandmas level since she used to work in a big government food court when she was in China)

Fun fact, you can also use the collagen from cuts like chicken feet and make the broth from scratch. Using the collagen makes it so you need less/no gelatin. Mum always does it that way, that’s how she learned in China with grandma

Normally, the traditional way is done with collagen so you will boil in that broth the parts of the animal that has the most collagen so that works as the binding agent for the soup to become a solid.

I was learning from my Chinese neighbour a long time ago and it finally clicked on me why we use some parts that normally aren't used. Because of that which can be a tricky science. It is easier to use gelatin but is tastier with a collagen soup

Xiaolongbao (the name of the dish) is easy to make as long you are have a bit of perseverance, but you have to be Asian (Preferably Chinese)

Soup Dumplings, or 小龙包, is a food mainly in china. Those cubes of gelatin are a very essential part of the dumplings as they give the “soup” part of the dumpling and extra flavor as well. 👍

I am an Asian and dumplings aren’t a nightmare to make. You get used to making them but if your new of course it will be difficult to make just as any food would be.
