Russia Is in Eurasia if we tali roughly of tectonic plates; most of the country territories are in Asia speaking of continents, but in the cultural, hystorical and political definition of Europe, probably Russia Is more related to Europe than it Is to Asia.

As a person from ethnic minority group in Russia I see this.
Russia is definitely Europe mostly with North-East europeans with a connected colony in Asia.
Historically Russia had almost no contacts with China and other asian countries.
Some parts of Russia had a slight cultural interaction with Persia (Iran) and Ottoman Empire (Turkey) but they was significantly weaker than european countries and their power was steadily declining.
Russians do not see anything valuable in asian culture and take european as a standard.

Russia spans both Europe and Asia today. It originated as a state in northern Europe, as Kievan Rus'. Ethnic Russians are Slavs and Christian. Russian is a European language. Moscow is in Europe. 88% of the Russian population is in Europe. Russia only expanded into Asia by colonizing. Russia is historically, ethnically, and culturally a European country. Easy.

When Russia became an empire and took on its own classical music genre… it looked to France, Germany, and Italy for inspiration.

Communism started in Germany (a European country)… but became realized in Russia.

Russia seems more dependent on Europe for its roots than it does Asia sometimes.

The Tsardom and autocracy on the other hand… came from the Mongols/Turkic tribes that ransacked Moscow.

I feel that there are 5 distinct ‘subcontinents’ within the continent of Eurasia.

- Europe
- India
- Siberia (very loosely including Central Asia here as well, as they share similar Turkic-Mongol roots)
- East Asia (including SE Asia)
- West Asia (ie the ‘Middle East’)
