It remains beyond insane that $1600 M3 MacBook pros were shipping in 2024 with 8gb of ram. Like.. beyond bonkers. Just like it’s crazy if the $2000 pros don’t come with 1TB storage standard. All cuz Apple wants to upcharge for storage or the cloud. Never-ending disrespect. 512? Freaking phones in your pocket costing half as much come with 512. It’s 2024 going on 25 and we’re still 5yrs in the past with storage, that only gets drastically more affordable over time. ..while still charging customers the same. Insane.

This single core performance is so much stronger than the latest AMD and Intel chips that it is amazing job by Apple. This GPU is also as strong if not stronger than 4050. So this laptop will be unmatched in productivity and if apple improves its gaming compatibility, it will also be great in games. Im thibking of switching from a Windows laptop but only if Apple fixes its gaming issues.

Even if we couldn’t confirm whether those benchmark numbers are legitimate, they seem to be within expectations. The binned M4 chipset with only 3 performance cores in the base iPad Pros already outperforms the base M3, and the 10-core models (with 4 performance cores) are very close in power to the M3 Pro. The M4s in the MacBook Pro would have at least 4 performance cores that will be able to achieve and maintain a higher clock speed than the fan-less iPad’s variants. Having 16GB as the new base is a nice upgrade, though.
