Angelo's Mom Makes Loukoumades SUCCESSFULLY!!

After many attempts, my mom finally has a successful loukoumades recipe! A very sweet Greek pastry covered in syrup, crushed walnuts, and cinnamon. And we nearly burned the house down in the process.

This was the absolute best! To see your mom so excited over the loukoumades she made was incredible. Wish I was there to taste them, I would even help her clean the kitchen. She has the most beautiful smile and laugh. Treasure her always. God bless you all!

I come here to watch your lovely Mother make all of the things, that I used to make with my mother and grandmother when I was a kid and growing up. They've both passed now. To see her in the kitchen, just reminds of all of the things they taught me about "being Greek" and the lovely food we Greeks eat!! Your mother's mannerisms and laugh are exactly the same as my mother's!! LOL! I do remember my mom reaching in the dough, with her hand, and holding a chunk of dough, and squeezing it out the top of her hand, and cutting it off with a small spoon to control the size of the loukomades. We always made these for New Year's Day and the whole house would smell of oil, walnuts and the cinnamon. Miss those times. I may have to make them for the family some day soon! Those look so good! YUM! A trick I do, is to dip the spoon in water before scooping out the dough. It falls easily off of the spoon and into the oil.

Listen to your mother, Angelo. She told you the oil would explode if you put water in it. Never put water in hot oil!

Aha ha ha ha I’m just glad you guys didn’t burn down the house; this is why you use a fire extinguisher with a foam base and NOT water...LOL
Anyways I love watching your shows they make me laugh.
Just wanted to say that if you use pre-mix self rise flour it works great, you don’t have to add yeast etc etc, and also make sure the syrup thick is just a bit before you pour it over.
