your video is better than most videos out there, including epicurious!!! many don't mention using oil, cloves or pouring the honey in the cup after the oil trick or the hot/cold thing at all!!!! great job!

Yes, you may use light olive oil or any light vegetable oil.

Can I prepare and freeze the cake then make the syrup the day I plan on serving the cake...so(defrosted and room temp) cool cake and hot syrup??

Making 1/2 recipe right now. No vanilla extract listed in the recipe posted on your website. I kept looking for left it out, but wanted you to know that it isn’t listed in your printed recipe ( or I’m having a senior moment! )
