Angelo's Mom Makes Egg-Bacon-Cheese Quiche
Показать описание
Easy to make, took longer than expected to cook, and my mom cooked it with a graham cracker pie crust instead of just doing the sensible thing and leaving the crust out entirely. This egg bacon cheese quiche. The ingredients:
-8 pieces crumbled, cooked bacon
-1/2 cup chopped green onions
-2 cups half and half (milk and cream)
-4 eggs
-1 cup shredded cheese (pretty much anything except cheddar cheese)
-Salt
-Black pepper
-Finely ground red pepper or cayenne pepper
-Half a stick of butter
I'm going to go ahead and leave out the pie crust from this recipe. But if you do use a crust, make your own or get it without a sweet flavor (it tasted fine with it, but I'd rather have plain flavored crust).
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Chop the 1/2 cup of green onions. Cook 8 strips of bacon and crumble them up. Fry half a stick of butter in a pan, put in the green onions, and stir them for about 3 to 5 minutes, then turn the heat off.
In a large bowl put in the 4 eggs, 2 cups half and half, some red/cayenne pepper, black pepper, salt, and stir them. Put most of the bacon crumbles, the shredded cheese, and stir.
In a baking bowl (or as my mom did, in a crust), put the green onions and rest of the bacon crumbles in, spread them evenly, then dump in the eggs/half and half/bacon mixture. Spread out the cheese to make it fairly even.
Bake it in the oven at 325 for an hour, though it took us about 75 minutes to cook it fully. It should be darker and crusty on top when it's finished. Let it cool for a few minutes, cut it, and serve.
I gave my mom a very slow fist bump.
