Here is another fix for a dead HDD. Fixing the PCB of a dead hard drive is must if the drive completely dead or is not reading. If you like the video hit the thumb-up 👍 and subscribe for more content like this.

The work is thorough and sheds a light on many things that I did not pay attention to.
In my case, mine was different (Seagate Momentus 320 Gb)
And I wanted to conduct the repair for files that I wanted, luckily I was able to restore some files although the majority of files were corrupted for some reason, but I got what I needed thankfully.
Thanks for the video, I'm sure it'll help a lot of people like myself.

how do you know which pins to probe? it seemed like you hit the short immediately when you began testing but you could've easily just chosen two nodes that are connected internally or something. maybe done to get a point across but can you specify what i should be probing on my unit

I have couple of questions, can you use component from another hard drive? And are you using normal heat gun?

Hi, I am not an expert, but a little technical knowledge I have, if I replace the board with a new board of same company's hard disk's board, will it work?

Hi. This was a great video. I was wondering if there is a fix for my external hdd. When i connect it to the pc i get a connection notification sound, the disk spins for a few seconds then disconnects. power light start flashing...

Accidently fried the logic board for my external hard drive, I'm pretty sure data is still there, but I have no idea if there are boards for sale..

QAQ Great video. It makes me know why the hard disk was dead. And It's hard to find tools and recover by myself.

When I have a failing disk, the general advice is to replace it. I have several old drives now. Is it safe and is there a way to restore them to a good standard. I do not need the data, I am just wondering if it is risky to use them after reformatting. Or if there is a way to avoid/cut out the bad sectors?
Really I would like to keep them for old back ups. But if it isnt safe, then I cannot.

Mine is Toshiba 1 TB
Worked fine till yesterday when suddenly a copying process was stuck midway which compelled me to disconnect it directly and from then on the device is not recognized by WIN PC.
Though the power LED is on while in use but it's static (not flikering.) and the disc inside is also rotating.

Is it possible to replace the logic board itself in order the hard drive to function?
