Why should you start a meetup group ?

If you are a creative like me or is looking to connect with people with the same interest as you, meetups are definitely the way to go! This was my first meet up and was super happy to connect and see other people connect. Living in South Florida I find hard sometimes to just meet people in the creative industry as I am in the process of building my skills and improving my work. Same for you that is starting on photography or film I highly suggest to participate or even create your own group. Comment below if you have tried, and what tips would you give to others that are starting in film and/or photography?
I am a huge believer in not waiting for others if you truly are looking to do something.

Do people go to meetups with buddies or friends they know? I don't want to be in an awkward situation where I'm the only one not knowing anybody and they know each other.
