You need a license on all jobs over $500 in CA, however, just because you have a license, doesn't mean that you are skilled at that particular trade.

Not necessarily, not all unlicensed people are bad contractors, I've seen licensed contractors that are terrible, license are just a way to control people. If you do enough research you will find out that all industries had people just start, then over time they don't like competition so they petition the government to start legislating people, so to make it harder for people to earn a living.

Truth, no roofing or contractor’s license needed in TX. Any chuck in a truck can agree to work on someone’s home for money. There are some trash roofers that put up some trash projects, there is no standard of workmanship in the industry, and no inspections to even see if someone has performed the work right. Helps me stand out above the competition.

First you need a buddy or friend who you can work under their license so you can build up a work base a lot of guys think oh all I need to do is get my license and my phone will go off non stop doesn’t work like gotta build some traction by making a client base and getting some word of mouth

You have it wrong in Colorado you don't get a blanket for all of Colorado like anywhere else. In Colorado you have to be licensed by each and every municipality.

A contractor license is good for everyone. First of you can get it with a social or if you don’t want to risk your credit for what ever reason you think it might affect, then apply for a itin.

License is good to protect the client and the worker. So everyone can get paid. Some clients like to act like the job wasn’t acceptable so they can get away without paying. And if you don’t have a license no one is obligated to pay. Some construction workers like to get the down pay and never show up again. Also advertising is way easier with a license number, you can’t advertise legally without a license or you risk getting set up by the city, yes the city sets traps where they call you for a job and when you take the money boom 💥. Ticket 💰
