Gamer Warm Up Exercises For Classical Guitar - THIS WORKS!

In this video I show you a simple warm up routine for classical guitarists and explain the reasons why you need to warm up

You know the feeling when you want to practice but your hands are getting colder and colder in every minute since you started to play... that’s really annoying. I also had that too, that’s why I wanted to make a video about my most effective warm up routine for classical guitarists.

You can catch a few mistakes I make in the video, and I left them in with the purpose of showing you that the main point is not to play perfectly and without mistakes. If you have cold hands, thats almost impossible. So after a few tries your hand will get into it and be more precise :)

The idea came when I saw an esport player to warm up and realized, something like this could work for me too. So I shaped it on myself. I know you can’t check if it works or not only by watching this, so I advice you to give this a try, and practice like this for a week or so. You’ll se results, I promise. :)

This video will cover the topics of
- the basics of warm up for guitarists
- bad warm up approaches and the problems with them
- exercises with and without guitar

I mention this stretching routine in the video:

You have a very natural and comfortable teaching and speaking style. Well done! In all my years of study I have never seen or practiced the wholistic style of warmup you demonstrated, especially the ones that didn’t directly involve the use of the guitar such as arm rolling, finger flaring and the like. Your warmup tips are very much appreciated and please, keep them coming! 😊👏

Wow, I never really thought about the pinky finger affecting my ring finger. I will pay attention to that for my warm ups. Great video!

Great perspective on why I need to re-structure time and my mindset towards practice, as well as the value of simple warm up routines. Lots to work on. This gives me a new sense of direction. 👍

Wow I just discovered your channel which is a blessing! I've been playing on and off over the years by myself and got stuck/progression is now very slow. I think I need some solid basic practice exercises (ex: fingers placement, etc), can't skip that part because eventually, it will impede progress. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!

So, I watch classical guitar lessons all the time and today, just today, they finally recommend one of your videos. Sometimes you tube sucks! And also, very good point on the pinky. I never thought about using it also. I will definitely do these, except maybe easier arpeggios.

These are great! I feel like I’m going to have too much fun warming up which will lead to a 4 hour practice session and I am all for it.

(p.s idk if 4 hours is average but if it is, I haven’t been practicing enough)

Great video!
For me the main issue is to select a few warm-up exercises that last around 5 minutes in total. Like many of us, I usually have only 15 to 30 minutes for my daily practice...(excepting the weekends and holidays) so I can"t spend too much time in the warm-up. I would add that being consistent in these short daily sessions is what makes the basis of my progress over time, rather than very long practice sessions, which are much less frequent in my case.

Hello Beatrix! I wanted to ask for some advise. I began playing guitar by myself like 4 years ago, never warming up but a few times and, eventually, I hurted myself. I've droped the instrument a few times those years in ordear to heal but, now that I wanted to return, I wanted to do it right. Do You believe that warming up like this might help for someone that ha already been in pain several times for not warming up?
Love your content, never leave us! ❤️

How much warm-up do you recommend after taking a 10 minute break from playing, or a 20 minute break or a half hour break? Thank you in advance. Love your channel.

I find myself starting off slowly with a metronome (perhaps a spider crawl), but eventually I build up speed and change spider crawl to hammer-ons and pull-offs (which is more of a technique building exercise). Only after an hour or so of hammer-ons and pull-offs do I attempt speed drills. (This is generally my morning routine, in which I cover no repertoire, which I typically do later in the day.) Am I making a mistake by having my warm-ups bleed into my technique building? It seems to be working, but I wonder if I am doing the right thing.

Por qué no tomas un solo de Slash y lo conviertes en clásico?
