What are some of your favourite Dynamic EQs you use?

I'm pretty sure one day I'll be scrolling through my feed and just Warren's hair will be teaching us the best ways to pan background vocals.

still dont understand why this is any different from a multi-band compressor. Good topic for a video methinks :)

I find dynamic EQ great when dealing with leakage in transient instruments - my main use being on snare drum mics with a lot of hi-hat/cymbal bleed.

High shelf everything over 5-6k and dip it an amount appropriate for the bleed and then use expansive dynamic EQ to pop it back up to 0dB or a bit above every time the snare hits, bringing back that and crisp snare wire that we all love.

I don’t understand dynamic eq. If something is making a frequency spike that you don’t want it to then why cut it only when it does it? Why not just limit that frequency’s volume permanently? It makes me think you must sometimes want that frequency to spike? Why? If you don’t want that frequency to hit that volume at one time, why would you want it to EVER hit that volume?? I don’t understand why you don’t just limit the volume on that frequency area that’s a problem and be done with it. What’s the benefit of doing it dynamically?

As a newbie, just want to ask if a dynamic eq is just a multiband compression on an extremely narrow range without affecting anything else?
