Would Alien 'First Contact' Destroy Religion?

As NASA continues to discover thousands of new exoplanets, humans have increasingly asked: "Are we alone?" If other intelligent species exist in our universe, do they practice religion too? If so, how would human world religions react to the possibility of first contact with extraterrestrial life?

Dude, dude! What if there's an alien race that goes from planet to planet like Jehovah's witnesses? Like that's the only reason they developed space travel.

I remember reading a sci-fi story by Mark Twain of all people. There was a man traveling through space and he was lost. He stopped at some sort of space station looking for directions to “The world the Savior saved.” The alien behind the desk was annoyed. “Which one?” He asked. “The Savior saved a great many worlds.”

Religion has survived us discovering there's nothing on mount olimpus, the sky is not a hard shell. I think it can endure other intelligent life.

I don't think it would effect my religion much. As a Jew, I'd just leave it up to the rabbis to determine which types of alien animals would be kosher. :-)

What if an alien civilization follows its own religion and attempts to convert Earth's inhabitants? The same way missionaries attempted to convert the places their countrymen colonized?
