Thanks for explaining this so clearly and succinctly.

That is the clearest and best spoken explanation I have ever heard, and 100% spot on.

A very important topic which you handled well IMO but it occurs to me that for us to ask a question that begins "Must Christians obey..." Reveals an attitude very different than that of the author of Psalm 119.

It might be useful to meditate on that disconnect.

As for the 10 commandments, the ministry of death, God said he will give us a new heart with new desires. The righteous requirements of the Law are met in us through faith in Jesus. I don't think it's a matter of obedience. If someone has a desire to steal, kill and commit adultery that reveals a corrupt heart.

This is a great question that probably the vast majority of people answer wrong. Looking from a spiritual perspective consider this: What laws must be kept and what behaviors are acceptable or unacceptable to those whose remains are in the local cemetery?

As one who HAS BEEN crucified with Christ, I have died and it is no longer I who live, therefore I am subject to NO law. Not moral, not civil and not ceremonial (from God's perspective).

Grace absolutely frees us from the law and those who truly live in grace, exercising their freedom, typically exhibit the complete fruit of the Spirit more than anyone who tries to obey the laws. That folks is grace and that is also a mystery. Totally free children of our heavenly Father, naturally act and behave like Him.

Or better yet challenge me on what I just wrote and let's see who uses more scripture accurately interpreted in its context.

IS RA EL was Egyptian not the one you can't actually discover like exodus. You probably read it like its secular history when the OT is divine teaching that happens inside man.

Galatians 4:21Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? 22For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. 23But he  of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman  by promise. 24Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. 25For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. 26But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

LOL nothing to see here, , , wow Quite simply, nowhere does Biblical Scripture divide up the Torah's Law into sections of Ceremonial Law, Civil Law, and Moral Law. Pursuant to this, there is simply no basis for doing and, thus, no standard by which to do such a thing

OSAS / Hyper Grace believers would tell you that "showing gratitude" to God for grace is considered works and is a no no. 😲
Blessings!

Eeehhh. Ok. Good textbook answer. Not wrong by any means. But why do I follow and live as Christ would? Love...love of holiness, love of others and love of Jeaus, my One true father. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law (Gal 5:22-23)

Romans 8:3-4 offers the best reason.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Nobody has broken the 4th commandment since the New Covenant was fulfilled at Calvary. It was a shadow of our Sabbath rest in Christ.

Col 2:16  Let no one, then, judge you in eating or in drinking, or in respect of a feast, or of a new moon, or of sabbaths,
Col 2:17  which are a shadow of the coming things, and the body is of the Christ;  (YLT)

Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made doctrines fall apart.

In Galatians 3:16-19 Paul reveals the temporary nature of the Sinai Covenant. Paul said the law was "added" 430 years "after" the promise made to Abraham "until" the seed (Christ) could come to whom the promise was made.

In Galatians 4:24-31 Paul told the Galatian believers to "cast out" the Sinai Covenant of "bondage".

The New Covenant has made the Old Covenant "obsolete" in Hebrews 8:6-13.

We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18, but we are come instead to the New Covenant of Mount Zion in Hebrews 12:22-24.

The term "the moral law" is not found in the Bible. It comes from men who could not let go of the Sinai Covenant.
How could Adam have committed adultery, and who would he have committed it with?
How could Adam honor his mother, since he had no mother?

The battle between the New Covenant and the Old Covenant began in Acts chapter 15 and continues to the present time.

Are there two different sets of commandments in the words of Christ below? (See also the end of chapter 3 from 1 John for "His commandments".)

Joh 15:10  If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

You are usually pretty good....but show me chapter and verse of this supposed 3 part law...you won't find it. It's all one "law". And as Paul writes, "7 Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses' face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end, 8 will not the ministry of the Spirit have even more glory? 9 For if there was glory in the ministry of condemnation, the ministry of righteousness must far exceed it in glory. 10 Indeed, in this case, what once had glory has come to have no glory at all, because of the glory that surpasses it. 11 For if what was being brought to an end came with glory, much more will what is permanent have glory. (2 Corinthians 3:7-11, ESV).
Look at New Covenant theology for a biblically consistent interpretation of the relationship between New Covenant believers and the law
