Book of Mormon: Fact or Fiction?

Sandra Tanner explains the problem of the historicity of the Book of Mormon. If the Book of Mormon falls, then Joseph Smith goes with it. If Joseph Smith falls, then the LDS Church goes down too.

The problem is, the Book of Mormon is NOT a historical document.

Every time I ask a genuine question to an LDS member they ignore it and share their testimony OR they point me towards the missionaries. When I ask my questions to the missionaries they don't know how to answer them and refuse to meet with me again. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes, the Book of Mormon is an actual historical document! Watch Lehi in Arabia. They've actually found the land Bountiful! The Book of Mormon is in revised Egyptian during the only time in history where the Egyptian's, the Hebrews and the Greeks had an alliance and had this reformed Egyptian. There's only one time in history that they had this alliance. They have the archeology. The Brigham Young branch is not true, but Joseph Smith is the prophet of the restitution of all things spoken of by all the Holy prophets!

I spent most of my life in the church and used to believe the same thing, when I was 50 I started to study the history of Joseph Smith and the church and the later the history of the Book of Abraham, it then all fell apart for me.

I am not a mormon but my mom is, so i have to go to lds church every sunday(I haven't told my mom that i'm not a mormon btw) but today i went to church and i felt God gave me many signals to follow the mormon faith even tho i do not belive it. I feel like i have to because it is coming from God himself.

Every time I bring something like this up my dad just says you have to have faith. He says we don't need real evidence because if you have faith God will reveal the answer to you... but if you already have faith in it of course you're gonna think God is tell you it's real, YOU ALREADY BELEIVE IT

The BOM has only been with us 193 years. On the other hand, with over a thousand of years of accumulated physical evidence consistent with the Biblical account, there are still doubters and denyers of that Holy book. The BOM offers its own challenge or "experiment". Live the doctrines with committment and real intent and experience first hand how it enlarges the Soul. As a whole, active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are as happy and friendly a group of people as you will find anywhere. I joined at age 24 and have been living the "experiment" for 52+years.

Say what you say, but as a young member of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints, I firmly believe and know that the Book of Mormon is true and that the prophet Joseph Smith is true prophet of God.

Thank u soooo much for saying this!! I grew up strict LDS in SLC and find it incredibly frustrating that members defend “The Church” without being willing to look at the facts…one cannot be in good standing and temple worthy if they are reading/watching anything NOT put out by the church or questions church leaders/teachings. Honestly, most don’t want to know the truth.

It doesn't matter to me whether the Book of Mormon is true or not, what's important to me is that the book has changed my life for the better! 😊
