It can be nerve-wracking to tell your parents about your boyfriend no matter how old you are, and I get lots of questions about HOW you should do that. Here are some tips to make that conversation more easy than awkward!

i really wanna tell them. but i’m TERRIFIED. we’re not official but he wants to meet them (he knows my current situation and is very understanding abt it but ofc he wants still to meet them) but i’ve met his family and i love them, and i really want my family to like him as well.

Hoping to use this in the future 😊 I am very private about my crushes which I know frustrates my parents 😂
Thanks Emily for your endless encouragement and needed advice.

Really love this. When I started dating my now husband, I was terrified to tell my parents because he was definitely not the guy that any of us envisioned for me. But praise God for being in the center of the relationship and guided us all into the relationship that I was entering into. But open and honest is the best way to approach it

I have a follow up question - what if you are dating someone of a different/no faith and you know that's important to your parents. How would you approach that conversation?

Thanks so much for this practical advice! I’m 23 and haven’t seriously dated before but I want to start soon. Most women my age are already dating and I feel silly even asking these type of questions. So glad I’m not alone and other women wonder about talking with their parents about it. I respect my parents and would feel guilty if I hide it from them. I definitely won’t tell them right away but only once it progresses into something more serious.

This is so true. I think opening like that to your parents, and saying things formally and straight since the beginning, shows them how much you care about them and how mature you are. I've never had a boyfriend but I hope to do it right when I have to introduce someone to my family 😊. Lovely video as always Emily!! Love you ❤

I would love to know your thoughts on online dating and meeting someone via bumble, match, or tinder.

I am here to say that it never gets easier, as in I started seeing the man I would eventually marry in my early 40s...and we were both nervous wrecks about meeting each other's parents/families! So, no surprise, courtesy and respect go a long way.

Having a lot of first-dates, or dating not a lot of keepers, I don't tell my parents about every date. The few times I do, they say I'm too picky and that's why things don't work out. What to do, what to do...? Soooo glad to have you back, btw!

What if your parents don’t want to meet your date even though you’ve been together for a while and there are no red flags or reasons to be ashamed of him?

We are in a distance relationship and it is very difficult to open up to our parents.
