One thing I hate about the divisiveness of TLJ was how this genuinely beautiful scene was overshadowed. Regardless of what you think of the movie overall, this reunion between the two of them was really well done.

When I saw this in theaters it made me sad knowing that Carrie Fisher passed away after this. I wish that she was still alive.

The little hint of the Force theme when Luke takes off his hood. Gives me chills. And the music gives you the sense that everything will be all right

The only moment from Last Jedi I truly loved. It took us 34 damn years to see Luke and Leia on screen together again.

Giving her the dice from the falcon was very symbolic. Innoway, that officially brings Han also in that room. The solos and the skywalkers. How tragic it is that Carrie didn't live to film new footage for rise of skywalker. This makes this face-to-face all that much more important and I'm glad they got the shot. A final goodbye to a sister in more ways than one. Mark does a fantastic job conveying Luke's shame in letting Leia down in how he handled her son turning towards the Darkside. Carrie equally does a very subtle yet powerful performance in acknowledging that her son may be lost forever. Hell he tried to kill her out in space and would have the force had not saved her life. Clever writing in giving her a glimmer of hope through Luke's words.

This. This is what a TRUE Jedi is supposed to be. Unrelenting, unbreakable, everlasting hope. The one thing that is stronger than the Emperor’s evil. Both the decadent Jedi of the Prequels and the Sith teach that the road to the Dark Side is one sided, that there is no return, no redemption… but that isn’t the case, it never was, and Luke Skywalker is the chief symbol of that. Of the belief that good, at the end of the day, really is stronger than evil.
I didn’t love this movie, but I TOTALLY loved this scene.

I love the fact that Carrie helped write this scene. It’s so poetic, especially with her passing shortly after it was filmed

The fact that this is THE ONLY SCENE BETWEEN THEM is perhaps the greatest injustice of the sequels. That and they didn’t do a single single with Han, Luke, and Leia reunited.
