I’m debating back and forth with a heretic. He says you must have the works.
He quoted this verse Jn 6:28 to say that believing is a work, see Jesus said it’s work to believe.
But it’s NOT even our work- it’s the work that God did, we believe on HIS work, it’s not a work for us to believe.

That translation on John 6:29 is a mistranslation,
this is what the Greek says: answered Jesus and said to them,
"This is the work of God, that you believe into whom sent that One."
Meditate on that and receive the truth of what Jesus said.
And there are many other mistranslations in all the translated English Bibles so before quoting, preaching or teaching any verses out of the Bible let us be as Bareans so we are not held accountable.
