Biggest mistake is not bringing running shoes on no trespassing ponds

Its SOOO DIFFICULT to resist buying new lures without using the ones i've already bought. I'm more attracted to lures than the bass i'm after.

The worst thing is after a day of no bites you have to do the walk of shame back to your car

When I turned 60 my wife and I found ourselves in Alaska on the dream fishing trip of a life time, and we had no idea 1) how good we had it and 2) how much we love fishing. Since then we've booked fishing guides and they tell us what to do. Now that I just turned 70 I have decided to learn to fish, and in the last week I found out the difference between spin cast and bait cast reels. I also opened a tackle box that had not been opened for 50 years. I'll be overhauling the reels I found soon. I appreciate the rundown of mistakes I need to watch out for. Although having a game plan is something I'm good at.

My biggest mistake is sticking with a lure for to long because I've caught fish on it before.

I'm new to fishing. Last weekend I was using my spinnerbait, made a cast and watched my bait launch 100 feet out into the lake. At first I thought I made the cast of the century, but I learned that my knot had come undone. SO, I'm submitting proper knot tying for beginners 🎗

1) base future success on past results.
2) not listening to the fish
3) complacent
4) choosing a lure. Eyes on only one lure. Switch lures every 10 min
5) accuracy vs distance
6) time management

I started bass fishing at 8 from atop a bridge. The biggest challenge was figuring out to cast into the sun instead of away from it...it all clicked one day on top the bridge fishing straight under it...I literally had my plastic worm stationary with maybe 10 fish surrounding it debating to pick it up...what I didn't realize is they seen my shadow.

I’m a brand new fisher and I think I’m perhaps the worst beginning fisher that ever was, but I’ve gotten some missed strikes, some hits, some almost-catches, and a total of two catches, all within maybe 30 or 40 hours on the water. Those moments where you even come close give such a thrill that it keeps me coming back to the water, and it keeps me coming back to YouTube videos. That’s all to say that I appreciate these types of videos very much. One of those catches was right after I watched a video about how to work a plastic worm. First cast, caught a fish. A little blue gill but a huge encouragement.

Biggest mistake? Too much research and theory and youtube and not enough 'hook in water' time! Not out learning lessons. Not out making mistakes.

My biggest mistake was spending a ton of money on gear before really understanding how to use it. I bought 3 baitcasting reels before I even knew how to cast them, I bought a ton of lures that I had never used, and I bought a boat, thinking to myself, "the pros have all of these and they catch big fish, so why would I be any different?" Start slow, gain confidence in one thing before moving the the next. Walk before you run.

When this guy said "I don't think this lake has any fish in it". OH MAN, I laughed so hard, the cat was looking at me funny.

Hey Debo: For new/any anglers struggling with line coils off their spinning combos, respool your spinning reels with BRAID. You can always add mono or fluoro as a leader. Any lb or any length as needed.

My biggest mistake is sticking to a spot for far too long! The whole “I know there are fish here...somewhere”! Pride takes over and I don’t catch a thing!

I’m 56 & new to fishing, was never properly taught & just wing it most days & make all these mistakes, this is the advice I needed. I caught my 1st 5 pound Bass yesterday & couldn’t sleep last night! I go to Walmart with a bait in mind & get so overwhelmed I leave with something different. I’ve only had luck with jerkbait & roostertails so far but I’m having a blast learning. New sub here, thanks!

i was the new lure every 5 casts guy, until i started just taking a small plano box of a few lures. It really helped me focus and learn the + and - of each lure in each situation. Instead of trying to through em all. Awesome vid as always my dude.
