I've suffered from dry eyes and my ophthalmologist told me to use Systane eyedrops.(Preservative free) I used it about 4x a day. Was helpful but still suffered. Then, I started using the Systane ointment, preservative free. I also take Omega 3-6-9 pills daily which helps to prevent dry eye. It has helped me tremendously. Hope this helps and good luck!

I had severe dry eyes when my work entailed looking at a screen all day and I was working in a high rise building with poor air circulation. I saw several doctors and finally got a diagnosis. I had to use drops daily and an ointment at night. No eye makeup for a while. I eventually got better with time and care.

That's exactly how it feels when I blink, like sandpaper on the cornea. And by night my vision is blurred and it's hard to focus. Thank you for explaining it all so well.

I’m getting a crash course in this as we speak. For two months, my right eye has been tearing excessively. I was convinced it was a blocked tear duct, but my optho diagnosed dry eye with mild SPK just last week. I wish I knew why this came about. He has some ideas, but to me it’s very mysterious. Drops are helping somewhat. Thanks for this informative video.

I just got diagnosed with MGD this past Wednesday. I have been using Systane Complete Drops and will have to get more once my sample runs out. It was super refreshing to find out because it explains why I have had blurry vision spells.

So glad I came across your video. I have fairly severe dry eye and am under treatment but have not had the causes and possible progression explained clearly. Your information so valuable and well presented. Thank you!

I’m 67, have rheumatoid arthritis and severe dry eyes-no tears. I haven’t been able to produce any measurable tears in over 10 years! However it doesn’t really affect my life too much. I can’t sit under a ceiling fan and the a/c in the car needs to be directed away from my eyes. They dry me out. Warm compresses help and preservative free drops. I would like to have a good cry with tears again! That bothers me most. 😢

A viewer asked about dry eyes during exercise. I find that concentration while exercising makes me forget to blink. I use drops frequently while working out, and take blink breaks. It helps a little.

I've had dry eyes for years and years. I saw my optometrist 2 weeks ago and found out that now have cornea abrasions to the point where there's a small hole in my left cornea. She told me to use preservative eye drops every hour for a week (She provided I-Drop Pur drops) and told me to use Systane gel drops at night before bed. I also have a cataract in that eye. I'll be seeing an eye specialist but not sure when I'll get in. All of that being said, I take 50mg of Amitriptyline every night and have for 20 year, which gives me dry mouth. Looks like that's one of the culprits here. I take that for Fibromyalgia and am not willing to stop taking it because it's given me a decent quality of life. Thanks for this video, very informative. I can't wait to see the Ophthalmologist and see what, if anything else can be done for me. At the moment my eye can detect nothing but a my symptoms fluctuate and sometimes it seems the eye drops don't work until I've put them in 3-4 times over a few hours.

I have dry eye, and my optometrist discovered Fuchs Syndrome, bless him!! It is a condition where the little fluid pumps in the cornea stop working. You get fluid accumulation in the cornea, blurred vision, and dry eye with watering. He told me to use a particular ointment (OTC) and Systane Complete PE no preservatives. I’ve been using for a couple of weeks, and it is working for me! Vision is better and tearing has greatly diminished. Dry eye discomfort is also better. Get your eyes checked for Fuchs!!!
