Fun fact: Theres a theory saying in the rebuilds we are seeing a different Asuka, this is hinted with their names one is call Asuka Langley Soryou and the other is name Asuka Langley Shikinami, hope this plays a major role in the series as theres no reason to change your character name

Original Asuka: Perfected version of the Tsundere trope. Her personality, fragile ego, and specific backstory enhance the trope. Everything mean she says is an intentional facade due to her own insecurities and lack of self love.

Rebuild Asuka: Soulless copy of the original. Written as a tsundere out of obligation and not to establish an interesting character arc. She literally has no reason to be mean to anyone or have a fragile ego. There is no facade to be broken or interesting backstory to make her developed as a character. She is everything wrong with the trope.
