Sure the PS5 Pro got worse bandwith and no disc drive but at least it's cheap, right?

Vincent should have explained that this means the PS5/Pro limits the video output signal to YUV422 at UHD 120Hz in HDR mode. A problem the XSX with its 40Gbps bandwidth doesn’t have. As we can see from the majority of the comments, most people don’t get that.

Yup, unfortunately the ps5 and ps5 pro both have to resort to chroma subsampling for HDR in 120hz mode. It's bad enough the ps5 had that, but the fact they kept this crap bandwidth for their "premium" refresh console is bs.

Series X console is really an amazing built system. Microsoft had a great team, shame to see the push to cloud gaming with this level of hardware and talent

"32 is less than 40" - Thanks for clarifying that Vincent... I never would have guessed! 🤣🤣🤣

Which just goes to show how bad a job the org behind HDMI has done naming HDMI 2.1 when speeds can be significantly different...

The VRR window is also wider on Xbox, for Playstation it's 48-120hz with Xbox it's 30-120hz. VRR is also supported in the same window via HDMI 2.0 at 1080-1440p for people using those TV or monitors still.

The ps5 pro is what the pa5 should have been. Speaking with experience, i buy day one always. Ps5 pro is a step up from ps5 i can see it on oled 55 inch lg cx.

Signaling doesn't mean the bandwidth is used, let alone to best effect.

Why is Sony, a literal TV maker, always behind on these things? Behind on VRR, very late to the 1440p party, behind on games that support 120hz, behind on bandwidth. They are complacent. Easy to get lazy and careless when youve been champ for so long

The cause of this is Sony bringing forward their design from the PS4 - a Panasonic DisplayPort to HDMI bridge is used to connect the SoC to the HDMI port.

DisplayPort 1.4a features a maximum bandwidth of 32Gbps.

FINALLY. I've said this since the launch of both consoles. Wow

Was hoping Sony rectified this with PS5 Pro, smh. Thanks, Vincent!

Damn, I bought one hoping for more bandwidth.

is it possible it's because u have one in the hdmi 1 slot and the other in hdmi 2 slot? regardless doesn't matter given the actual results when playing

Does this matter in practice though? Also, maybe that’s why there is no Dolby vision on PlayStation? (Besides licensing, of course)

Without this man we'd all be lost.

Thank you for talking about this. Sony really really cheap for this. The ps5 Pro isn't cheap! Ps5 should have better port too.

Stuff looks and runs amazing on the Pro, but little things like this, the VRR range, and supporting Dolby Vision would have made it a far bigger upgrade. Still, it's what you're doing within this bandwidth that matters and most of the time, the Pro enhanced games look and run a lot better.

Are they saving production costs by not making it 40Gbps? Why dont they just enable it fully if its not a big deal?
