I remember I had a friend who may not have been conventionally attractive. It's interesting because I didn't notice it then. When you like someone, you don't notice those things. Yeah. I'm 62, Mom is 86 and really, she's fantastic. Not complaining or clingy or anything: she still lives independently and I have my own home and just finished a fantastic career. The week after I retired, I went to see her and we talked about how all I did was work; she let slip that she had always wished for grandchildren from me...I just changed the subject. She thinks I would be able to attract a women. I never admitted to her what she can't see: I am a profoundly ugly man. My entire life, I've asked countless women out and never succeeded. After 50, I just gave it up.
