update after 3 years, i actually got a really bad infection afterwards and cried in pain the whole night after posting this comment

The best solution I found is using Cortizone-10. I don't get the cream, rather I get kind that is a liquid, but has an applicator tip. I then use a Q-Tip and apply the applicator to that and soak it down good and then apply to my ear canal. I only need to do this maybe 1-2 times a week and that will get rid of the itching - even when I have ear buds in that has a tendency to create am itchy sensation.

At times I feel like, if I had the superpowers of dupli-cate (from invincible) and Ant man, I would've entered my ear, while I sleep with warm saline water, cleaning brush, scrub and oil.. and peel off dead skin and oil it

I had an itchy ear for 5 years. My ear ran and finally after 5 years, I got the right medication. It was awful. I was simply told it was an infection. I was prescribed drops. I suffered a lot. The doctors ignored me.

Whenever my children scratch their ears, I would use a powerful mini torch to check their inner ears . Usually it’s a buildup of wax and residual soap . I use a Qtip coated with antiseptic cream to clean and remove them . The cream prevents the Qtip from shedding and also not causing damage to the ear’s thin skin .

You have made me realize i am not alone.
Mine started less than 2 years ago and it has grown worse.
I am even scared of the hospital because nothing has permanently worked.
I was not born with ear itching but it started when I was almost 30yrs.
Even the steroids given only complicated the itching that I had to stop using it.

I use olive oil but it itches a lot that I feel tickled.
I am shameless when it comes to itching that i even use tissue because I was told not to use cotton buds.
I am tired that i can't calculate how much I have spent in less than 2 years 😭😢

This gets me wishing I could reach into my ears and give them a mighty scratch. I have never had eczema but, a friend went for a medical and was told she had eczema in her ears'..she was advised to use a small amount of Sudocrem now and again. It worked for her and for me, so when the itching begins I use the Sudocrem just once then, I'm ok for a couple of months. Hope this helps others...

I'm here because at this very moment i am suffering from an ear infection caused by itchy ear ( my ear has it's own heartbeat) So very painful as many of you know. It's a vicious cycle, ears get insatiably itchy, i scratch with a Q tip or my fingers and boom in a few days i'm nursing a ear infection. I hope when i go back to the docs he can give me a cream to stop the itch so i don't end up in this situation again.

I had an itchy ear canal and my doctor told me to use Scalpicin drops. Now when I itch I drop a few in my ear and itch gone.
