I really applaud tesla for their desire to build in the US. I also applaud you guys for your reviews, very honest!

Greetings to you, all the way from South Africa: What I truly appreciate about you guys is the fact that you actually buy some of your cars you review, yourselves. Where most other reviewers almost exclusively wait for a vendor to send them a car, or have to request a car from a vendor for review! You guys just go: "We don't have time for that, we'll just buy our own"! That to me is awesome!!! BIG THUMBS UP. And it has the added benefit of giving us some idea of what it might be like to live with such a car, as you guys have the freedom to do what normal people would do with their own cars. Like the time Tommy accidentally "slightly crushed" the right rear side (I believe it was) of your Model 3 and what the actual experience was like to get it repaired or that time when you tried to tow the camper trailer with the Model-X from Colorado to Portland and it soon became clear that it can be quite a frustration with an EV when towing over longer distances, especially within a limited time frame. THAT is something you hardly find anywhere else. Double Big thumbs up! (Although, as a family man and a father of 2 young ones, I'd rather stick with the black seats for now) - Now we just need Tesla to begin investing in (South) Africa, otherwise VW will take the EV marked this side of the Atlantic with their ID3. Not that the marked is big here, but that is mostly because we don't have any EV options and a lack of charging infrastructure, of course. But here are quite a few people in SA who'd go for an EV if they could. Anyways, Can't wait to see more content from TFL about the Model-Y, like: first driving impressions, some drag and track tests, the test up that mountain pass that you do with EV's and of course all the other real-world applications that cars are normally also used for like towing, re-fuelling (emm, I meant: re-charging), etc... Can't wait - Keep it up guys! Love this channel!

I’m always confused when people make excuses for Tesla quality issues. If you’re paying 65, 000 to 150, 000 for a car, there should be zero quality control issues. They were just given a very poor rating in quality from a major reviewer.

I’d actually perefer the look the of the model X than model Y

Definitely like the Model X better. I don’t like the front of the 3 or Y. Looks cheap.

I’ve owned a model X for nearly 4 years. Love it.

Congratulations guys on the purchase. I prefer the Model X personally because I’m 6, 6 and like bigger vehicles. You guys are doing a great job on these channels, keep it up. But please don’t try to make this one an over lander

I definitely prefer no screen directly in front. A HUD option would be nice, but I do not miss the actual screens. I always found them to be more distracting than the center screen design.

Since this was recorded 3 days ago I was wondering if Tommy has backed it to a garage yet

Great content btw! :)

I have had my model y for 2 weeks or so, just got back from a long road trip. 19 inch wheels make for a more comfortable ride vs. the performance wheels and tires but the car is just otherworldlygood in comparison to traditional vehicles. Lots and lots of storage and autopilot with traffic is brilliant.

I think the white seats are pretty gross looking, imo. Especially if you have to pay another 2000$ for it. I'll stick with black.

WTF?! "A vibration in the suspension and a door seal fell off." Flawless. . It's just the water, bug, wind, heat, and air conditioning affecting door seal and the actual safety of the drive train. No big. If this was a Hyundai or Mazda you wouldn't say that. Why do people keep making excuses for Tesla's horrible quality control?

The size difference is so minor it’s not a valid reason. It’s okay to want the new one without making up an excuse to trade.

Before Roman starts complaining about the complex screen layers and lack of buttons to control the glovebox or typical stalk windshield wiper adjustments, tell him about the amazingly good voice controls. Just hit the right steering wheel thumb wheel and command just about any feature - "open glovebox", "wipers on 2", "read text message", "turn heat down" or "heat driver's seat on 1".

Better performing voice control than any car, no safe word like, "Hey Mercedes", or BS like that. I am nicely surprised how well it works and how zero Tesla reviewers comment on it. It works with many phrases, not just ONE COMMAND that you have to remember, it works when my back seat passengers are talking and even with wind noise from an open window!

Tesla's one screen for everything with submenus can be a pain until you discover the incredibly good voice controls.

Certainly think the new one looks far more sporty than the previous one. Still think that 65k to 115k for these cars is a ton of money for the average person.

I got my Model X. Love it. My co-worker got his Model Y. I need the deep truck space to put my folding bicycle in and hide it from sight of other people. It only works well in the Model X. The truck well of the Model Y isn't big enough to accommodate my folding bicycle in the folded position.

Performance trim is overkill IMO unless you're genuinely planning on taking it on the track. I test drove both and even actively trying to take advantage by flooring from a 30 mph on-ramp to a 85 MPH highway, the AWD model is fast enough that I had to hold back as I'd nearly instantly be going faster than the merge lane. Also, 3 out of 4 wheels on the performance one were chipped due to the profile, and it felt less smooth on the road. Having said all of that, I still 100% understand the appeal of wanting the extra acceleration, but I'd strongly advise anyone considering it to drive the non-performance first and then ask themselves if it needs extra speed for $10k. Really though, it just depends on whether "fast enough" is fast enough for you.

Great video, I just don't get why many people are replacing their Model X's for the Y...Just because it's a newer tesla doesnt mean it's better ...Altough its a great car I would go Model X all day long as its more unique and cool...(my opinion) Only me..?

I have not driven a model y, but I sat in one for about 3 minutes. I've driven two different model 3's (combined 1600 miles). A model 3 is too small for my big butt, and the driver's floor not being completely flat hurts my feet (floor is fixed on the model y thank God). I have driven a model x (800 miles) and loved it. I would have to drive a model y and put some miles on it, but if I had the money right now I'd go get a model x.
