DAY 3 of EPIC | Bodyweight Core & Abs Workout

Day 3 in the EPIC Program and let's hit the abs and core! This core and abs workout will involve using our bodyweight as resistance to hit the entire core and the abdominal muscles.

The upper and lower body will of course be involved in many of the movements particularly the plank variations.

Balance, control, isometrics, dynamic.. it’s all in here! This is a workout to strengthen your core to help improve your overall training and prevent injury.

You will simply need a mat!

The timer is for 50 seconds of work and 10 seconds to get ready for the next exercise.

Please ensure you warm up for at least 5 minutes prior to beginning. (See link below for my new warm up routine)

Control each lift & lower and take it slow!

Most of the people here in the comments said they did horrible! I taught that too and then realise that I showed up and did everything I could with the strenght I have right now. This is what really matters. Be patient <3 We are all on a journey not a competition :D

Idk if there'll be a person reading this or not but I remember the first time I did this workout, I could only went up till half of the video and end up crying realising how weak my core were at that time and I feel so frustrated that I couldnt do most of the exercises properly. But I came back here again after finishing epic I and currently is halfway through epic II and I'm happy to say that I could finally finish this whole workout and do all those moves I had once struggled to do before. I just wanna say to those who feel like they are having a hard time perfecting their moves or getting through this in general, dont give up yet! Just keep on pushing yourself and give your body a chance, it'll surprise you in a way you would never imagine it could :) You'll one day look back and thank your past self for not giving up. We got this!!

some modification tips that helped me get throught this workout:
1. dont focus on the timer, do 15 reps of each exercise
2. if 15 is too hard, do 5 reps followed by 5 seconds break 3 times
3. any plank exercise you cant do just do a normal plank and hold it
4. again if u cant hold it for 50 seconds hold for 20s, 5s break, 25 s
5. if u need to, take a 2 min break mid workout at 50% in (or 5 but no more cz u will lose momentum)
6. i know it seems really hard and u r ready to give up but remeber that tomorrow u r going to thank urself for not giving up today
7. remind urself that there is no rush and that U CAN DO THIS!!

Learned something about myself today: I have absolutely no core strength. Most of these moves were impossible for me, but I did my best and pushed through. Was very encouraged by all the comments here showing I am not alone and should not give up. Thank you!

Day 3 and gave up on 65%,
I feel really hate on myself, I was crying that I can't finish it. My body can't take it anymore and it's really heavy to do. I feel so frustrated.

EDIT:

GUYS, I DID IT! I FREAKING FINISH IT 😭 JUST TOOK SOME TIMES FOR ME TO REALIZED THAT I MUST CONTINUE THIS. BECAUSE I FEEL MORE FRUSTRATED IF I DIDN'T FINISH IT AND I DID IT 👏
The comments also made me realize that I'm not doing this alone, but together with all of people who doing this workout and especially my biggest motivation, Caroline!

I was two thirds into the workout when I wanted to quit. Then I saw all the comments and encouragement. I thought I was the only one having a hard time with this. I couldn't do most of the exercises and it really demotivated me. Doesn't help I dislike doing core exercises. But because of the comments I decided to push through. So thank you. And I really hope to improve my core. This is the first time I have committed to a program so I really want to stick with it.

I almost talked myself out of it because of how tired I was after the past two days and work today, or mostly because I think core focused workouts scare the hell out of me but, I did it 🙈😁

This was a serious test of endurance... my abs were really starting to struggle around the halfway mark, and then we got to the hover to sit up exercises and my abs were like "nope" - I had to settle for crunching up as high as I could instead. Hopefully with enough training I'll be able to do those exercises properly one day.

It's no wonder how you have such incredible abs, Caroline 💪🔥

Hi Caroline, been going to gym for years and lifting heavy weight, but since lock down could only lift smaller dumbbells at home. I started doing your 1 hour full body works outs and noticed a massive improvement using lighter weights with quality functional and complex movement . So decided to follow your EPIC programme and really enjoy it . More rewarding than just pushing heavy weights and going through the motions. So thank you for posting these.

I'm working through epic, now on day 25 but came back to the infamous DAY 3 which left me crying afterwards the first time. I actually got through it ok this time! Just one or two moves were quite difficult. I am so proud of myself for moving past the emotions of feeling deflated, weak, and in pain, and continuing on the program.
