All of this!! When I was 18 I was a cashier at a gas station and had the pleasure of cashing a homeless man who was one of my regulars out for a $1 scratch off that he won $800 on. We cried together. He bought two of his friends who were also homeless lunch and we all celebrated with him. At the time I was working two jobs, and doing college full time while living in a tiny studio apartment. $800 was and is still big to me but it was life changing to him. Truly a moment I’ll never forget.

My mother spent quite a few years convincing me (successfully for a while) that it wasn't worth getting my PhD because it would be too much of an investment and not enough payout. It was only when I said f it and started going back and working on my degrees that I really hit a place of pure happiness with my life.

It's fine if there are some rich people in the world; its only natural that someone will invent some crazy useful invention, be highly impactful with their speaking, make great content, etc. But we just also need to make sure the rest of the population can exist comfortably in the same space, instead of so many people literally struggling just to survive. And if you have to pretend to be something just to feel like you're 'relatable' to maintain a connection with people, then maybe you should put yourself into that world for real and see what you can do to improve the lives of those in it.

Regarding that YouTuber who won 3rd place, I think the issue is that she didn't win any money for 3rd place, so it just feels like she's doing this for clout, especially since this happened a few years ago. As horrible as it may sound or feel, it makes sense that Mr. Beast would edit it so that more famous influencers had more screen time. I had no idea who she was until she made this video, and I still don't remember her name. It doesn't feel as though she genuinely cares about the charity she was fighting for, rather she cares more about being edited out.

Lmao I just checked that in USA cheeseburger, for example, costs 3.69$
In my country it’s 0.54$, that’s a huge difference lol. 0.54 is more than affordable I believe, and it goes for all other McDonald’s dishes .. I feel u 😬

I really appreciate the phrase “Money can’t buy humanity”

I agree that pursuing what you want to contribute to society is the most important thing. All these rich bros and lifestyles or whatever it makes no sense when we are living through genocide and climate change.

It’s weird that “everyone” expects “rich” people to be so ultra sensitive to them and their feelings regarding what they don’t have, yet “everyone” can’t fix their brain to stop and “relate/empathize” with them? So many “rich” people reference in the photos didn’t start off that way, they’re just adapting to their new way of life and the INSANE standards put upon them by strangers jealousy. Sometimes someone is just really talented and hard working then suddenly the money starts rolling in. And should anyone trashing the rich ever find themselves in this type of situation, I hope a bunch of riff raff doesn’t try to tear it away from you. Celebrities singing for fun during a tough time shouldn’t make people this mad. Like, complainers, don’t you know any successful people? They’re usually the opposite of bad, you don’t move very far up if you’re an asshole. Sorry, I don’t get slagging on rich people, it actually puts them on an even higher pedestal with the expectations that they need to be clairvoyant saints too. Empathy doesn’t just flow downhill. I like your Chanel btw 😘 just a rant.

The thing is earlier it was trendy to pretend to be rich, but now social image matters more. So now rich people try to be “relatable”.

This reminds me of that Dutch influencer who made a video 'living on 50 euros for a week' in which her fridge was already fully stocked, she took her daughter to the movies because she 'already had the unlimited card' and her boyfriend took her out to an expensive restaurant and hotel for their anniversary. By the end of the week she was saying how hard it had been like she hadn't been spending hundreds of euros 💀

I happened to be at a hotel in California the same time as a popular fashion YouTuber, and it was so obvious that she wasn’t having fun, but was faking literally everything she filmed. She was vlogging in the hotel restaurant during breakfast, and she kept having to cut off the camera because her son was having a tantrum throwing food etc. Her husband was not talking to her or helping her at all. She was obviously miserable, but that facade went up as soon as the camera was on, and looking at her channel, you would’ve thought she had the trip of her life. You really can’t trust anything influencers share.

I’m a RN. Any kind of healthcare work is honestly very hard. But navigating the pandemic working a COVID floor and not knowing if I would bring it home to my family honestly terrified me. Every shift was mentally, emotionally and physically draining. Thank you, Salem, for keeping it real. These celebrities and influencers are 🤡 and so out of touch it’s disgusting.

Don’t get me started on the rise of homestead living influencers who try to look so humble but the reality is you have to have TONS of money to live that way.

As a teacher, I’m always appalled at the way the rich try to be relatable or understanding when they have been so out of touch for so long. I’ve got kids who are homeless or kids who also have to work cause their parents aren’t able to make enough to make ends meat. Also teachers don’t make enough.

Literally & not just celeb, but big corporations! The “please give us 5 dollars of your money for charity so we can send it off and say we did so much for the community :)” or “the please tip our staff because we aren’t willing to pay them a living wage”

I dated a man who was very well off whilst I was lowest income above poverty... The difference was so jarring, it contributed to the breakup. He was so out if touch and he showed his privilege without even intending to in ways i found so tasteless.
I swear he thought I was poor for the fuckin 'aesthetic'. Absolutely not, i could afford to have 1meal a day at the time, it was miserable.
He was a 50/50 guy too. I cant date people outside of my income bracket again 😭😅
