“Intelligence can’t be measured in a test.” - Alfred Binet- inventor of IQ test

He designed it for kids with disabilities to decipher how they could be taught differently.

How astounding is it that people have turned the test into something that not only can’t be measured but was never INTENDED to measure? Pretty meta stuff.

It’s not an excellent measure of intelligence but it’s a pretty reasonable one.

The IQ test is just another normal exam with a weird name

I’ve taken maybe 5 in my life, last two were spanned 10 years. No prep.

My score has increased from 115 to 137.

IQ tests are not perfect but whoever says that IQ scores are meaningless, real world data does not agree with that premise at all.

an iq test is something that one should do once they have their basic math and basic english down, pattern recognition and all the characteristics that make up an IQ test should be tested at a person's earliest possible stage with the most basic understanding to test how good their intellectual application of that knowledge really is

I think it's fairly accurate.

I've had schizophrenia all my life, and balanced on a plank trying to keep my sanity, during episodes of psychosis i scored between 98 and 103, during episodesnof recovery i scored 103-110 and after recovery i score between 110 and 114

My adopted niece was diagnosed with alcohol fetal syndrom with 3-4 years old.At 7 she was still at kindergarten and the teacher put her through a I Q test, where she got a really low score, around 70…Because of that they sent her to a special education school. She never had any chance to go to a normal school where we live. 😢

Bro, I got a 131 and I'm dumb asl so idk how trustworthy IQ scores are to judge true intelligence.

It matters because it's normed on people that didn't train for it. It matters because you're not supposed to train for it...

What you're saying is that if someone who's naturally talented at sprinting but didn't train beats other who also didn't train then that doesn't mean he's naturally talented at it because other than people can train for it and best him if he doesn't train.

If you take someone with an untrained IQ of 148 and someone with an untrained IQ of 107 and have them both train for an IQ test, what's the end result going to be?
I think the answer is pretty obvious.

At this point we have repeatable correlations between brain-case volume and IQ, neuronal density and IQ, glial-cell count and IQ and the list goes on. It's undeniable at this point that those who are capable of scoring very highly on IQ tests actually tend to have superior brain physiology.

Intelligence isn’t fixed. You’re arguing for fixed intelligence. You can improve by training for the test yes, but you can also improve by generally learning more and becoming more intelligent.

Finally someone else that calls out the bs in those test

What is "real intelligence?" People study, practice, and train their skills and knowledge throughout life. No test in the world is completely independent to improvement through training. If anything, the IQ test is the most impervious to those activities. Only marginal gains can be made by practicing those types of questions. This is a really bad take.

I did a iq test online when I was 13 and I scored 139, i did same iq test 3 years later at the age of 16 and I got "145 or more", i was also doing brain training, but wasn't practicing iq tests

I.Q. Tests are to measure your brains capabilities on adaptation, if you do more then one test your I.Q. Doesn’t grow, just your understanding on the concept of these tests, your cognitive functions are used differently depending on the person, you could be slow picking up a new job, doesn’t mean your dumb or slow or have a low I.Q., just means your brain adapted to something previously that contradicts what you’re learning now, so it’s gotta move more things around and prep for the new challenges afoot

I believe you have made an assumption that intelligence is static.

It's floating on several factors including diet, sleep and use. If you don't use a high intelligence it can get 'rusty'

Studying aka training is how you become intelligent. Knowing the language the IQ test is intelligent off the bat
