Let’s continue our discussion on inmate manipulation by looking at the six principles of compliance / Influence so we can see how it can be utilized by manipulative inmates. For this discussion, Anthony Gangi, Host of Tier Talk, discusses the third Principle of Compliance or Influence known as liking / friendliness. Let’s talk about how this principle can be utilized by a manipulative inmate.

Theses Principles come from Dr. Robert Cialdini book, “Influence.” I have used what was taught in this book and molded it to Corrections.

I am in a small town. Everyone knows everyone else's business. Not really possible to guard myself. What do you recommend?

This is so true. I knew a few co workers who fell for this and got walked off. When i was a supervisor i had a PT who fell for this and she as about to be walked off but she quit before it could happen. Then a few months later she had the nerve to call me, at the prison, to ask me for a recommendation for a job she was applying for.

It seems like a hard job, don't befriend inmates? But are you still willing to help, some inmates needs to know someone is on there side and sometimes that may be a guard. Just a sain word or two can be the highlight for a inmate. just on the other side of the fence was someone who was normal and helped me a hell of a lot and started me on the right track.
