Looking into it for this year when I have to sign up. Don't need more than a couple of doctors' visits. AARP at $178 a month in my state seems like it can't be beat. Under a recent employer plan, my emergency room visit cost me $900, and they still payed the hospital $2000. $50. copay is peanuts.

I have 2 concerns about Plan N over Plan G and 1 major concern of Plan G. Let me start with the concern about Plan G. You said that if Plan G premium is within about $25 higher than Plan N at the time you start, you will select Plan G. However, if Plan G premiums increase at significantly higher rater than Plan N, that $25 starting difference may be over $100 or more when you are 75. No one really seems to know how fast the various plans' premiums go up, especially relative to the other plans. My concerns about Plan N are 1) while the copay is $20/$50 now, what is to stop it from increasing to $50/$100 over time? I know that is what happened with my private insurance copay over time. Secondly, while excess charges may be little to none while you are healthy and able to screen your doctors for whether they accept Medicare rates, if you end up with a critical illness, you may want to opt for the best doctors in the discipline and while an extra $30 (excess charge) may be okay for an office visit, if the doc that charges 15% extra turns out to be your neurosurgeon removing a tumor from your brain and he is charging $115, 000 for the surgery rather than $100, 000, you might feel that excess charge of $15, 000?

I took plan N initially and have been very happy with it. Wife has plan G because she goes to the doctor more often.

With regard to excess charges, you could have mentioned that they are illegal in numerous states.

I honestly think you do not realize you are simply the best out there. When the time comes if I cannot get the deal done here in Louisiana I am taking a trip to Tampa Florida if I have to.

Your videos have been so helpful to me. I have watched several and decided to go back to Original Medicare. JULIA *YEA* helped me every step of the way. She explained my options clearly, explained step by step what I needed to do. Her follow up is excellent!! Thank you so much, Julia!!!

My only question is if you start with a certain medigap plan, like N, and later down the road your health changes and you want to switch to plan G, will I have to go through medical underwriting for approval? If so, it seems like it is better to start with the plan you want down the road.

What if the doctor is full Medicare assigned but the lab/labs they send things out to is/are not? Does one have to take it upon ones' self to ask the office personnel or the doctor about that?

I have seen that some companies offer a discount for husband and wife. Do they both need to be on the exact same plan? My wife (older) is on K now. When I go on, I will take G or N. Let's say I take N and she can convert later this year. Sounds good.... But - she has a lot of office visits - so potentially a lot of co-pays.

It's my understanding that a handful of states prohibit Excess Charges so if you live in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, or Vermont, you do not have to worry about Part B Excess Charges. Is this true?

Soon to be 65 in Florida and overall healthy. How does a High Deductible G (HDG) plan stack up against Plan N? I was ready to commit to HDG but now am thinking Plan N may be better. HDG has that $2700+ deductible and a low premium, and does that make it the overall winner vs. Plan N? Please simplify. Thank you in advance.

I'm trying to get this right before I retire next year. I actually thought that I had to pay the $233 premium monthly. So, I only have to pay whatever the doctors co-pay is. And they should be able to tell me what it is before I choose?

hi keith, I just got a a couple of quotes back from you for Plan G and Plan N. My question is, what is a Household Discount?

What about projections for future premium increases between G and N?

Let me make sure I understand the basic requirements for first time medicare sign-up. A Plan C, with additional benefits as available, not sure if a Plan D is required or not; or, Plan A, Plan B, a Medigap supplement (G or N) with Plan D supplement, separate 3rd party vision, separate 3rd party dental, for comprehensive flexible coverage. (BTW - that's a lot of separate monthly payments to track. Presently on ACA Bronze plan with 3rd party vision and 3rd party dental. I understand the issues with a Plan C - high out of pocket, issues with changing back to Medigap supplements, travel coverage, HMO type coverage, etc.

But are the copays locked in at a maximum $20 forever ? Also is the percentage of all doctors in America who don’t take Medicare assignment always going to be 3% or will it be 10% to 15% in 10-15 years???
