My wife and I saved over $900.00 a year going with the plan (N) also Pennsylvania does not allow excess charges so the (N) plan was a no brainer .

Good video! If you are reasonably healthy, you'll save money with 'n'. I typically see a Dr. for diagnosis 2-3 times a year. If you go to the ER and aren't admitted, that could add a cost, but because ER's are SO crowded servicing non-insured folks, I'd only go there if it was life-threatening. Excess charges sound scary, but with 97% of non-pediatric Dr.'s accepting Medicare, you'd only have to worry about them with 2% of providers. (The other 1% don't accept Medicare in any form, so you will pay out of pocket visiting them whether you have Advantage or a supplement.) Lastly, Medicare makes it "painful" to not accept Medicare rates for the Dr's, so there isn't much benefit to go for the Excess Charges.

For me, it is 100% about what I can afford in monthly premiums. I'm leaning towards N, but can't afford a D or anything else. I don't want an advantage. However, if my rent continues to increase at the rate it has been, I can foresee having to drop all supplements in a year or two. Is it best to go with N and later switch to advantage if it becomes necessary?

Thanks for that excellent delineation between the two plans. Plan G it is!

Thank you so much for your comparisons. Choosing to keep G as I have many doctor appts during the year, and not having to pay co pays or excess charges, puts my mind at ease.

This is not true. As a retire my wife and I have personal and practical experience with plan N and plan G . It’s true that plan N is cheaper may be $50. However, you would pay much much more for you have plan N than plan G . With plan G we pay $0

On a plan N do you pay a deductible and a copay, or does the copay come into effect after you satisfy your deductible?

Plan G is still the choice for me in three years as long as no major changes.

I thought of going down to plan N from G. I want dental a good dental and advantage united health care plan 8 has great dental etc so I am jumping ship from plan g. I am basically healthy for a 67 year old and going to purchase a separate indemnity plan to cover hospital stay, out patient surgery. Maybe you should talk to people on this coverage to help copays for the advantage. Still cheaper than plan f and g

Are the smallest monthly premium, the annual rate increase and the overall A+ rating the most important factors to look at when deciding on plan N ?
