|| ABOUT ||
Today, getting what you need is as easy as a trip to the store. From food to clothing, energy, medicine, and so much more, Andy George will discover what it takes to make everything from scratch. His mission is to understand the complex processes of manufacturing that is often taken for granted and do it all himself. Each week he’s traveling the world to bypass the modern supply chain in order to harvest raw materials straight from the source. Along the way, he’s answering the questions you never thought to ask.

Music by the talented Taylor Lewin

In this series, I'm going to attempt to make Lipstick, Foundation, Eye Shadow, Eyeliner, Blush and Perfume. Then we're going to attempt a makeover using my makeup.

I'm a man, and I think this cosmetic series is a great idea. Sure, I don't use many cosmetics outside of toothpaste, but roughly half of my friends and family do. As such, it is an interesting topic and one that touches on several additional topics that you can expand upon, such as dyes, waxes, oils, and paints.

Andy my man, as a dude who watches every video on your channel I'll say it first, I'm highly interested in this series and I think most of us are. While your channel may be mostly men, we're all interested in the science and creation of what you do, not just the macho aspects of hunting your own deer. Keep it up!

I've absolutely loved HTME since the day I heard about this channel. Andy and team, thank you for continuing your efforts to show the world what it could take to make everything! This is my fav channel of all time! <3

Thank you so much for covering this topic. I'm surprised and grateful that you're interested and, like you said, have the courage to express that interest. I realize that this is exactly what I wish I got more from my male friends--a simple curiosity about the realities of being female and how those came to be. You're awesome, thank you.

People, stop complaining about the audio, she weren't using a mic like him, that's why the audio is a bit 'under quality' so probably he recorded that from his camera or phone, it isn't something that can be easily fixed

As a male i almost felt obligated to show this video some love because i know many other males will just skip over it with the word cosmetics in it. I will admit it's not the most interesting of topics and hell even controversial if you talk to some people about it but I personally love your channel so much I just want to see you learn the process and gain some knowledge along the way. Keep doing great things bud, here with you always and love the content.

I've been subbed for a long time and I really want it to do so much better in views. I don't even care about make up, but I want to know thanks to the great quality, attention to detail and production value this channel has. This is a great channel it's the "how it's made" post apocalypse. Keep up the amazing work and here's to the amazing success you all deserve

Very excited to see more on this. I have a feeling this will really help push your channel out to more people as it's such a rarely discussed side of such a popular topic.

To hell with the stereotypes. You should not have to dwell on the fact that most of your fan base is male. You are making INCREDIBLE content and most of the creators on YouTube are making videos just to gain views and engross themselves in the monetization of their videos. You are proving that just about any ol joe or jane can make their own products by hand and sadly there has been a MASSIVE decrease in people actually working to make their own things and an increase of people just simply buying their necessities.

Really appreciate you focusing on a subject for the minority of your youtube audience! Thank you for this!!

I'm thrilled about this! It'll be neat to see the work that goes into cosmetics. I remember seeing a video of face powder being mixed from the 60's and it was a mix of green, pink, and white that was blended into a beige tone. If you haven't already, talk to the folks at Aveda to see if they can help with making some items (I may have some connections, actually!) Also, perfume/cologne would be really neat to see made as well.

This sounds really interesting! And I loved the thoughtfulness you employed when describing why you were interested in this topic. I'm someone who is biologically female, but I have never worn makeup. That enough is intimidating, but I really want masculine people to be able to rock whatever cosmetics they may want to without having to face any stigma for it. Mostly I think this is just going to be some fun alchemical experiments!

i really like how you are so open minded about makeup, and i really like this segment because it proves that there is nothing feminine about makeup, ...it's all determined by societal expectations and pressures. cool video

There's tons of male makeup lovers and artists and I watch their videos regularly. It's so refreshing.

Cool! I am male, and I'm excited about this series. I've actually made cosmetics myself, even if you exclude soap (creams, etc). Ask Cody for some beeswax. :)
There's actually a lot that you can do with only a few ingredients, but they have to be good quality. Got beeswax, beef tallow and lye? Can make stearate cream. Got beeswax and some sort of oil? Can make lipstick, lip balm etc. Got oil and some emulsifier (like soap)? Can make oil/water creams. And so on.
Also regarding historical toxicity of cosmetics, it's mot just the lead oxide/carbonate that was at fault. For a long time, cinnabar (mercury sulfide) was used in lipsticks.
