it's an "evaporative recovery nozzle" ie it captures gas vapors and puts it back in the underground tank donut doesn't pollute. it if course needs a good connection so vapor is caught, why you need to push it down.

The reason for the removable gas cap is to allow for quick fill gas cans to be used. Second, those California nozzles are so gay, even my boyfriend said "No way am I using that."

I just prefer a regular dirt bike gas cap that you just unscrew without a key.
