Down the line you can consider Super 40's or Delta Flow 40's. The Super 40's will be deeper in tone due to the thicker case, and the Delta Flow 40's will be quieter due to the 3rd Delta Flow baffle it has within.

A few questions and suggestions.
1. How old was that magnaflow?
2. Flowmaster 40 is pretty aggressive but sounds like you didn't want it aggressive.
3. To mellow it out, rather than add a cat, you should add a resonator after the header before the muffler. The longer the resonator the tamer it would sound.

I wonder if it would have made a difference by placing the muffler at the back instead of the center.

nice video - well, I'm wondering why the FM S44 in your case does not have its characteristic sound - aggressive, deep tone, raucous - in my ears it unfortunately sounds a tad metallic. I have a MF installed on my XJ 4.0 for a couple of years and it starts to drone now. I will be changing to a FM S44 because of its old school noticeable tone.
