MacBook Speakers Buzzing/Sounding Fuzzy? Try This FREE Simple Fix!

You do not need to buy anything or use any tools, this is a fix that you can do simply in the System Preferences.

In the System Preferences, go into the sound tab, select "Output," and adjust the sound balance closer to the non-crackling speaker. For example, if your right speaker is crackling, move the slider closer to your left speaker. Try and keep it as close to the centre as possible without crackling. Play a sound file while you're adjusting it.

UPDATE LATE 2021:
The video linked above is actually a more permanent solution. The solution you see in this video is far easier to implement, but it won't change the fact that your speakers are physically damaged and can be reset. It also won't work if both speakers are damaged. The video that I linked is a new video that I made that shows how you can fix the hardware. A lot more difficult to implement, but results are much better and more permanent than this solution and definitely worth checking out. It's a complete hardware fix that you can perform with basic household items. Peace.

another solution I found that involves messing with the output settings is – if you've split a drink or a bit of water on lets say the left speaker and it starts buzzing/sounding fuzzy/crackling, then you slide the balance setting all the way to the left and play a loud sound until it returns to standard (:

This is to avoid the wrong part/issue, not to fix it. Therefore this is NOT a solution.
Someone mentioned a fix to change the MIDI settings, but most might need to have the speakers replaced.

this is not a scam works 100% thanks mate. Depending on how much you use your speaker this is a great soloution, if you use it alot than get the speaker replaced but in the meantime do this

Thanks. I had the same crackling problem on my right speaker and that helped fixing it as well as tuning in to get the perfect amount of sub bass and kicks I wanted on my music out of my macbook speakers.
