I’m of the mind that this behavioral change happens young, that we can experience ego death as toddlers or pre-school aged children because the adults in our lives don’t love us. And then the false self takes over because we need to be a stranger they can love in order to get our basic needs met.

My understanding is that psychopaths are born and narcissists are made. Psychopaths are narcissistic but not all narcissists are psychopaths.

I think it's partly a lack of the ability to gain self-awareness at an early age. If you don't know who you are you develope and external locum of control which, ran by ego, creates an internal chaos and where you try to manipulate your external environment to make you feel more in control.

From what I’ve read our brains are constantly structurally adapting based on how we’re using them. Our synapses and neural pathways can either be strengthened or weakened depending on how often they are utilized. The synapses that we rarely or stop using get pruned and these pathways are lost to us. My guess is that while there might also be some genetic tendencies or environmental factors for narcissism and psychopathy, it’s ultimately our preferred values, priorities and how we choose to engage with others that will dictate in which direction our brains develop. If we decide that empathy, honesty and accountability makes us weak and vulnerable we’ll suppress our feelings of compassion, begin to see people as things to be used and develop our abilities to exploit, deceive and manipulate them for our own gain. This is something that probably starts in adolescence but when it’s continued into adulthood our brains begin to fully adapt to it and this becomes our fixed way of being in the world and ultimately who we are deep down.

My sister tried un alive ing me when I was 7 months and she was 2. She tried several times over our childhood to finish the job. Turns out, she was a full on histrionic narc. My dad was a full on psychopath. Both were evil to the core. I believe she was born that way

From what I've seen, and this isn't the only possible causes. There seems to be a spiritual problem as a soul comes into body. There are needed developments in mind and body. Everyones brain wires up. But in many cases the brain develops in a narcissistic manner and they often know it. Very manipulative and painful for many of us who are more open and sensitive. I both know how damaging narcissistic people.can be. And I can see how they failed to dvelop. Tragic and painful for everyone involved.

I suggest because the narcissist didn't get what they needed from a woman ( mother) when they needed it, then they go on to ultimately punish all women for that betrayal all during their adult life. That deep primal rage is entrenched in their "being", as if they know THAT is the reason they are irrevocably emotionally broken " beings". Thoughts?
