Krispy Kreme Nathaniel here. The bolt on the inner liquid filled bushing of the control arm MUST be torqued while the suspension is under load. If torqued not under load, the orientation of the center of the bushing becomes captured such that when you lower the car, the bushing inside gets twisted. That significantly shortens the lifespan of the bushing.

As a 20 year BMW owner, it drives me CRAZY to see Indy shops not using the correct “puck” inserts to lift these cars. Placing the lift arms without those pucks impacts and deforms so the inserts no longer fit. I have a few extra here and I’m 15-20 minutes from your shop Ray. I’m gonna bring you a set!

Hello Ray by most european cars you have to put the suspension under load before you tighten up the bolts, . If you tighten up the bolts first and after that you put the suspension under load you are putting a lot of tension on the rubber part of the control arm. It won't break instantly but shortens the life of the components.always enjoying your videos nice greetings from Germany

Ray, the thrust arms have to be torqued with a load on the wheels at ride height. the bushings will twist and prematurely fail the way you did it. Otherwise great job. love your channel.

Make sure you check the signal indicators. Most BMWs have non-functioning turn signals.

You can use the zip tie cut off as filler for the plastic weld. Also there is a zip tie tool that tightens and cuts the zip ties flush.

Ray finally got the right parts! He's been getting screwed by his suppliers so often that this is a noteworthy moment.

Good day Ray, I sure hope that your customers appreciate the ‘extra mile’ that you go to so that their cars are ‘made whole’. Most garages do the exact opposite, they break things and just slap it back together, knowing that it won’t be their problem down the road. Appreciate you!!!

The squeaky brakes part reminded me of something I said to my dad when I was six or seven years old. On the way to school there were a car that had brakes that squealed loudly when it braked at a crossing. Late that afternoon when my dad got home I told him about it and wondered why he didn't spray some oil on them so they wouldn't squeal like that. It made him laugh and then he explained about brakes and how bad they would work if you spray oil over them. It's strange what memories sometimes stay in your memory. This was more than fifty years back, and yet the mention of squeaking brakes brought it to mind.

Imo you should lift the wheel assembly to its position like it would be under weight of a car before tightening the control arms bushing to a frame. The way it is now make rubber bushings locked in a position of max lowered assembly which will make them under constant twisting force when you will lower it on its wheels

That may cause them fail much faster than they would normally do.

Hey @RainmanRay'sRepair, the wheel is supposed to be at ride hight before tighten that forward lower control arm.

I would like to say Thank you to Ray. I had a riding lawn mower that would not try to start. I remember watching your channel and you saying that if the started does not engage on the engine, you said to tap it with a hammer and try again. I did and my lawn mower work. Thank you again.

Good stuff ray. Who ever invented zip ties should be praised. Always keep a supply on hand.
