Diesels offer good performance with excellent running costs. Just a shame the government is trying to charge most diesel cars with the ulez and low emission zones. Biggest con for the car owner

My old 640d was ridiculous after a Remap. 0-60 in 4.2 seconds and torque for days. You can get an early 13 plate for 12 grand ish. Just make sure they've been serviced at max 10k intervals

For me, it has to be the bmw 335d xdrive! Prices start at around 13k for one with high mileage, but 20k will get you a low mileage example
