In my humble opinion, the BMW 220D is a very good choice for this list instead of the Leon or Golf, it has a faster 0-60, higher stated economy, lower insurance group and ofc the badge, only downside is practicality but it looks better

I have a 184 leon ST, hell of a car, really good mpg and flys in sport mode (although holds on to revs to long for me but you can use paddles to shift up). Interior with the mood listening is great. Just make sure you keep up with the dsg and engine oil changes. I had a 125d in the past and that thing was 🔥.

I own a BMW e90 335d Lci m sport it's the best diesel car standard by far. What a car I suffered with the dpf problems as most diesels do when they are fitted. So I had it stage 2 remapped, also I had the dpf gutted the egr blanked and the swirl flaps blanked. I also had the gearbox xhp remapped. Best 800 pound I have ever spent it now kicks out 359.4 bhp and 705 nm of torque what a weapon. They are 286bhp standard not 281bhp as you stated..

BMW 123d Std version has 204 bhp and 270 lbFt. With a Stage 1 remap I've got it at 263 bhp and 350 lbFt. It's an absolute monster and 0 - 60 mph in 5.5 seconds.

I own a 2010 335D e91 and absolutely love it! So fun to drive. I bought a non sport and got sport seats and M steering wheel for it. Superb in every way. You can get around the ABC issues.

Small detail but the Mk7 GTD is 184bhp, love mine! Also loved my 2.0TDI Scirocco before it which was basically the same internally. BMW's are SO boring inside, I couldn't cope!
