Are you better off buying emergency food buckets from survival food companies, or is it better to put it together yourself? In this video I talk about the value of a food bucket vs. buying and building an emergency food supply on your own.

Thanks for your views, comments, and support!

Good on you for actually criticizing a product sent to you that you weren’t impressed with. It would be very easy to just take the money, smile and nod. There’s a lot of shills on YouTube. That makes me trust your recommendations even more. I hope other potential sponsors realize that and don’t shy away from your channel for that reason.

Great video. I do all the above. Through the years I've learned to can, dehydrate and grow food. It is never too late for anyone to start.

New subscriber here. Back when i was growing up we didn't call it prepping. Canning vegetables from your garden and having dry goods on hand for an emergency was just insurance we could eat. It helped that my parents lived during the great depression and went hungry. That experience motivated them to never be unprepared again. Fun fact, during the great depression here in the USA may regions were hunted and fished out. So living off the land fantasy people have is about as real as winning the lotto and building a dream house on the moon. This Corona vacation we are all having is a wake up call for alot of people. Better to have and not need rather than need and not have. So congratulations for doing the smart thing for you and your family.

A good idea to store water as well as a filtering system such as a Berkey or even a Sawyer filter.

OH WOW!!
I bet these companies would NEVER prey on people's fears, or use words like, "Patriot, " in order to garner immediate sales by one certain type of person!
INCREDIBLE!!

I agree that stuff is just over priced carbs and sugar which pushed me into just buying a freeze drier

I've been a prepper since covid-19. My supply is building up nicely. I have a basement for storing, I've got dry goods, canned goods, dehydrated goods, FoodSaver sealed goods, etc. It's super.

I’m so thankful you were able to see your brother and tell him you loved him. I lost mine to suicide. You were good to your brother and tried to help him as best you could. May the Lord bless you, comfort you, and give you His Shalom during this time ❤️

I have a dehydrater that I have made many of my own meals that allows me to have control over the ingredients.

Something to remember is if you have to leave the house the patriot one have to be cooked on the stove for a while. The mountain house one just need a small amount of hot water because they are freeze dried ( not dehydrated, different process) and cook very fast. As for the carbs, they are high in carbs for energy when food is more scarce. I wouldnt eat them unless there is an emergency or backpacking.

You're one of my heros!!!! Growing up in the 50s and 60s, us kids were taught to live a simple life. We helped with chores, housework and yardwork. We were taught how to cook, sew, mend, can food. Make due with what we had. Saved our money. Made our own fun. Explored the forests and deserts. We lived simple lives. Those lessons and skills have served us well over the years. We will survive whatever happens. Blessings...

We well remember your Alone, experiences and saddened when you had to leave. Your experiences have given you a special insight on what foods to store. We keep a combination of MRE's, Mountain House, Thrive Life, Augason Farms Foods, Emergency Essentials as well as the usual grocery store items. We also keep home canned, dried and frozen foods on hand. We have tried to keep it well rounded and have items for specific situations like foods and snacks for our "travel" bags. As you know, every bit of weight you have to carry and be an issue. We are lucky to have space for a small garden and have fruit trees. We'll be watching for your next video! Oh, and we tried some of the Patriot Supply foods, they were ok but I wouldn't buy them again, heavy on cheap carbs.

I’m glad someone actually tasted the food. My biggest con to this idea is how am I going to carry this bucket around, in a true emergency situation. What if all your supplies get washed down river, or your house is taken from you by force. So much for the preparedness bucket that was sitting in the garage.
