Good advice. I would note those FoodSaver type bags leak within a year. The Mason jars's seal last longer. I had problems with powders getting sucked up so I use a coffee filter or clean paper tissue/towel on top of the powder. Finally, baking powder only lasts a year or two -- but if you store the components, baking soda and cream of tarter separately and mix when needed, you get 20 years or more of storage. I am looking forward to this series.

I haven't seen you in so long! So glad you're still alive and teaching us a thing or two. The world needs more people like you these days. Thank you.

For what you do, i have loved you way back when you showed folks how to filter water from a river, through a 2 litter soda bottle. Happy you still teach the old ways.
God bless Bill.

Little tip I've learned is to put cardboard between the jars if you need more space for your cans. This will help keep the jars from breaking open the lids that have other lids stacked upon them. Some say not a problem, but this can cause damage. Slide a thin piece of cardboard for a safety precaution.

Thank you, precious Miranda! I'm trying to get the word out that for those who may have glass Mason-type canning jars within the distance of a concusion blast of a nuke strike, the preps are subject to breakage from the concusion of the blast. Recommend cardboard, bubble wrap, rags or whatever you have, to place between the glass jars. May our God continually bless you and yours!

I learned to freeze things for 3 days before long term storage to kill bugs that seem to be in all beans and rice, etc nowadays.

Well...just ordered a vacuum sealer! Look forward to seeing a tutorial on dehydrating eggs ❤

I'm grinding my dehydrated whole eggs as I'm watching this. One tip that made all the difference for me with dehydrating eggs is that I whip up the whole raw eggs until they are super frothy, light, and airy. I also dehydrate on a temp of 145°F, using fruit leather trays. Then I vac seal them and store in my freezer in flat bags as well as vac seal in a jar and store on the shelf too. I rotate the freezer bags to the shelf jars.

Good advice but remember what is dried needs a lot of water to rehydrate. Think of water storage for those that don’t have water resources near by

I got a 50 pound bag of pinto beans at Gordon's Food Service back when C19 hit. They ordered it for me and it was there the next day. I divided them up into mylar bags with oxygen absorbers and sealed them up. Less than $1.00 per pound.
They also have big bags of pasta and rice. Also votive candles and canned heat.

Great video, i already store my stuff in jars, but didn't know about the handy little sealer, I've always used the attachment on my vacuum sealer.. that one looks much simpler :)

Pro tip - a lot of Costcos and Sams (like the one in Alexandria) have some bug problems with some items that you won't realize until they hatch out in your stuff. We've even found them lethargically moving around in vacuum sealed containers. We heat all of our dry goods up to about 100 degrees in the oven now and haven't had any problems since. We're about to get a freeze dryer as well. We kill so much game in the winter and have so much that comes out of the garden in peak season that it's hard to want to face a hot Louisiana day trying to can things.

Don't overlook the basics of an emergency food supply. A bag of sugar is a month's worth of calories, and so is a jug of oil. Get a bag of flour, and there is 3 months worth f calories in a simple flatbread. They all store well, especially the oil and sugar. Add in a bottle of vitamins, and you aren't going to suffer much for all those simple bulk calories in the short-term.
