I wish you would have include the sodium content and a taste test.

The 4Patriots kit seems like it's really low in protein. I know they are for emergencies, but you still need protein. The other one, with chicken and beans etc seems a much better choice.

Two things that are important in freeze-dried food one is the calories available per day. Some of the freeze dry companies do not provide enough calories. If you used a one-year kit exclusively you can find yourself starving by the time that year is over. Another thing is the actual amount of protein in the kits. Protein is expensive and oatmeal is not. Also if you want oatmeal you can easily by dry oatmeal in individual packets at the store.

I don't like these kits. I can pack some idahoan loaded potatoe soup( just add to boiling waster), instant oatmeal, top ramen and other quick foods. Those 72 hour kits need more water and a lot of cooking. I have these types of kits and I think some people will buy them thinking they are like mountain house and just add boiling water to the pouch. Nope. I do not want to think I have to haul around the water needed for these meals and cook them for an extended amount of time in a bug out situation.

Looks like in their updated 72 hour kits they've taken out the black bean soup and replaced it with maple oatmeal so now you have your breakfast. I'm going to ironically prefer the black bean in a short term survival situation.

Funny . . . .a 16 ounce bag of food contains 4 ounces of salt and 3 ounces of sugar 6 ounces of processed carbs with maybe 1 1/2 ounce of protein. Disguised as Grams, preservatives and natural sweeteners.

I bought 10 of the Ready Hour 72 hour kits for $5.00 each during Face Book specials prior to Covid. Haven't tried them yet but their part of my preps.

In the new my patriot ration they replaced the 4 servings of bean soup with 8 servings of maple oatmeal

I find it interesting or strange, however you want to look at it, that they are packed in multiple serving pouches yet are designed for one person? I mean, in an extreme situation...as in, bug out bag as I've heard people say (I'm new here, lol), would you take pots and bowls with you and measuring tools? I heard you say, poor water into the pouch....that would make sense if I was a family of 4. Otherwise, I'm assuming that the cooked food would start to go bad. ?? Weather conditions would have something to do with how fast.

Again, just strange that there aren't individual servings that you prepare as needed when the kit is just for one person. If I was doing a diy, that is how I would pack my emergency food. Not 8 servings of oatmeal in one bag. But 8 packets of oatmeal where I can just pour in water, and I would add protein powder to it for sure...I don't see why these companies can't make protein oats instead of regular carb filled oatmeal.

You can supplement the meals with freeze dried veggies.

4Patriots flashlights are cheap crap made in🐲🇨🇳 China. I had to call customer service and email a pic of the defective usb portion. Now, I have to send it all back. The compass is unreliable, too.

For a disaster prone area they would work. Hurricane, tsunami or earthquake areas I’m thinking 🤔. Or when shif 🤷‍♀️

Jinne, I thought you said, "Every kid comes with Mac n cheese in it, " but you said kit! Although what I misheard would probably still be pretty accurate! 😂

Ready Hours resealable zip locks suck. Out of the four packages I taste tested, I could only get one to reseal. They must use the most inexpensive ziplock feature they can find. Their food is nothing to brag about either. Stick with mountain house or dehydrate your own.

Hi Homestead you could go to a Wholesale store like Sam's Costco and buy in Bulk .this way you would have enough food to get through to next day or week ..you might spend almost the same or little more . .just a suggestion. .
