Is saturated fat bad? No, it’s super healthy. Can saturated fat be bad? Yup, just like many nutrients, if eaten in excess, it correlates with inflammation, irregular lipid levels, and metabolic health issues.
Nutrition is complex because some things are just bad, like alcohol. And some things are just good, like protein. And then lots of things like iron, selenium, and yes saturated fat fall into the “dose-dependent” category where they go from being super healthy to suddenly problematic.
There is a current trend in pop health to eat saturated fat with reckless abandon. This is an interesting experiment, but if you look at the overwhelming consensus of published data, it’s a risky one.
