I made sure to take 37 years active rest before starting to work out. Safety First. Safety Always

I've been following this advice religiously the last 7 weeks

110% agree with this. As someone who trained every single day intensely on a bulk and saw discouraging results despite this, i took a step back- rested- deloaded- boom came back stronger. Muscles grow during rest, not training. And prior, my sleeping was bs since i was chronically stressed from excess systemic fatigue/life in general

I did this accidentally once, and i was super surprised how light the weight felt on the first days back

Remember, this doesn't mean you spend 2 weeks eating garbage and drinking beer all day. Keep eating well and go on hikes, ride a bike, etc. Stay active, just don't do your standard training

I’m on a 3 day rest, and it’s killing me.
This came at the perfect time. Thank you

I don't know why, but the way he blinks resonates with me and makes me feel calm and comfortable.

Respect for this advice Dr. Mike. As you age you learn this one way or another.

I'm doing my first deload (by choice) in years right now, not counting being sick. I normally go 3-4 times a week, and almost each day I go hard. But, for the last 6-8 months I've lost strength and have had three minor injuries I've recovered from. Use to be able to bench 305 NP on most days. Now I'm barely able to hit 275.

It could be many things. I've lost some weight, 5-10 lbs. Been extremely stressed with work and dream of flipping off the mangers as I look for another job daily. I can barely sleep due to the stress and am starting to get frequent panic attacks. I pray once I find another job, they don't treat their employees like they do where I am now, and I can get back to enjoying my life.

Update 1 week later: I've haven't noticed a significant regain in strength, but there has been a slight improvement. My physique, however, looks better. It looks like I have a decent pump even on my off days, I've really noticed it in my arms and shoulders. And I think my stomach looks a little less puffy (I don't have visible abs, but they seem to be showing more of an outline from under the fat).

Perfect timing, going on holiday next 2 weeks and was considering going to the gym but had decided to take the time off, this confirms the benefits of the break

He doesn’t blink, he just takes a mental picture

I'm a natty and work my butt of at the gym, and intuitively, I take one week after 6-8 weeks of progressive overload. It truly helps me to make more progress. The build.up of cortisol and soreness takes away the joy of life otherwise

This makes me feel less guilty for not working out as hard this past week
Been busy with a career change

I was literally telling my son yesterday I needed a week off because I feel so drained from working out 5-7x a week! And then this pops up. I’m gonna do it when I feel serious fatigue because I was feeling it this last week! 👏🏽 and not feel bad about it and celebrate the rest! I just hope I can stay sane!

It feels soo good to actually let your body and mind rest. Took 1 week off and my mental and physical strength went through the roof

Honestly for the past 9 months i have never skipped a session and i had to last week because i was so busy with stuff. Genuinely the most rejuvenating week ive had since. It felt off not goign gym but it genuinely was worth it.
