Exactly! Listen to your body, it's not meant to always have a set number of days off. Just because your training program says you have to go in/rest doesn't mean you should. Be flexible with your workouts.

Just the other day I did a massive hike, and was way too tired to go into the gym the next day, even though my program said I should. No point going in if you can't recover properly and your sets get sloppy.

Recovery is linked to wrist strength. So if you wake up and can crush something or clinch your fists really hard, you're good to go for another session, meaning that your nervous system has fully recovered from the previous gym session

Guys, I’m 56 and tried everything over the last 25 years or so . Natural bodybuilding just needs variety with days sets reps rest food and good sleep is a must . Change up your routines but at my age I feel that 3-4 days is enough with some walking on the off training days .

follow your body's signals....I'm 58, and been working out since high school...your body will go thru changes, you must go with it..job, sleep, what you eat and stress are all factors ..I work nights all my life, so my whole routine has to be catered to my lifestyle...I change up my routines so my body gets shocked. 4 days pr wk. 1 heavy core day, 1 light, ..so on...rest when needed..stretch and abs every work out..back, biceps, legs, shoulder and triceps (4 day)

I train 6 times a week with moderate intensity. Only the 6th day I go all out. 2 times each muscle group. It works for me and I am never too shore or too tired. The downside is I spent too much time in the gym. This clip hits the nail in the head! Spot on advice.

It is the combination of your training and your psychology.
Some people don't feel burned even if they workout 6 days, some burn after 3 trainings but they get close results.
Training + own Psychology = perfection

The harder you train the longer it takes to recover and less often can you train that muscle group.

6 days on 3 or 4 off. Legs, chest, back, arms, shoulders, abs. Day. 3 to 6 sets for each part. All to failure. Do em throughout the day take you 15 minutes today. Get in decent shape in no time flat if you push yourself in those 15 minutes.

99.9% of people who think they’re overtraining are not overtraining, also active recovery is a thing.

Facts. I dont take any days off anymore, but about every fifth day i have a designated light day where i just run and/or road march, to recover properly but still do something. Fuck rest days, but you gotta recover when you gotta recover. For Christmas I just went swimming in the Hudson.

Or train different parts on different days.

(Leg, arm and traps, chest, shoulders and back)

Practical considerations are really important, too. I like to work out 6 days a week, but keep the sessions shorter. That's easier for me to work into my life than 3 longer sessions. It ends up being the same volume, just spread across more days.
