I haven't felt well, barely trudging through work the last 4 or 5 days.. it's videos like this that help me cope. I seriously get depressed and down without the gym.

In my experience, I think a week off does wonders for your joints. It's a blessing in my eyes

I totally agree.missing a week makes your body recover and you gain much size if you let your body recover on a timely basis if your training 3months 4 to 5 days a week. Your muscles may seem soft during no working days but as soon as you hit the gym muscle memory does its thing

I find it’s harder to get back in the groove of exercising regularly if I take too much time off; being consistent is actually easier in the long run.

Everything 3/4 months I take a week off. Best recovery ever and you miss nothing in gains and feel so much better for it

Total stress on the body = working out + everyday moving and exercise (walking, yardwork, housework, etc.) + mental stress from my life. If all of this combined brings me a week where I'm exhausted, I take time off until I'm not. A week off has never hurt me, either when I was a long distance runner, or a weight trainer. The body speaks loudly. I listen.

Simple answer no. I've noticed that if every few months I take 4-7 days off completely when I return i recover faster. ALSO...i notice that within the week off and the following week I return I notice more growth. its not placebo either. Sometimes without realizing it Especially once you reach 30, you aren't recovering as well as you think you are.

The main issue I have with taking a week off (vacation, AAA game release, etc…) is that my diet suffers. I never eat enough, and when I go back to my routine I feel like crap and it takes a few days to get my appetite back.

I find that taking a break after about a month of training helps so much! And allows my body to fully recover and I think it helps me mitigate injury

I’ve noticed that if I go week after week after week without missing, my arms will eventually be slower to recover. That’s when a week off from upper body training allows me to recover and give the joints and tendons a rest.

I take a week off when i need it . When I’m burnt out, my joints hurt and i just dread training . I’ll catch up on sleep . I’ll do flexible dieting and keep calories little lower but protein about the same . I find this better mentally for me vs doing a de load week . Been training 35 years so the week off does me good !

i took a week off randomly due to laziness but i was lifting heavier when I went back because my muscles had sufficient time to repair.

When I was younger if I felt like I'd plateau'd I'd take a week off and more often then not when I came back after a week I'd be a hair stronger and see some strength gains. I injured my back a week ago training and haven't exercised in exactly 7 days so this video was perfect timing.

From my experience, yes. My body type puts on muscle very quickly but once I lose consistency with eating enough and training stimulus the gains go just as quickly as they came.

I have an inguinal hernia operation coming up, and I won’t be able to workout for 6 weeks in November. I just lost 132 lbs, and it’s got me nervous that I’ll gain back some of the weight and lose what little gains I’ve made. I just plan on keeping my diet in check the entire time. That’s about all I can do besides walking.

I don’t organise my breaks. If you listen to your body you’ll know when to call a break.

I find 4 to 7 days off twice a year keeps me fresh. Sometimes your body needs a good rest to fully recover the cns, joints, tendons and mental health aspects.

Bare in mind I’m 100% consistent with training, close to if not more than 90% on top of my diet and recovery. So If you’re not at a point of consistency i.e. can’t stick to a training plan, takes long breaks, bad sleeping and eating habits then you’re really just kidding yourself.
