Frank Turek, creator of the organization "Cross Examined" is an apologist and public speaker. He frequently visits college campuses and speaks about the existence of God and the historicity of the Gospels. However, Frank Turek will occasionally debate with Atheists about morality and how it proves the existence of God. In this video, an atheist challenges Frank Turek on the Moral Argument and provides his reasons for why he believes humans are perfectly capable of being moral without God... he was not expecting this response from Frank Turek. I really love seeing these conversations where people are truly looking for answers. This young man stated his question very clearly, he was willing to listened to the answers and then he gave follow-up questions and again, listened to the answers. This was a great exchange where nobody became defensive, it was just a nice back and forth of ideas.

I'm not an atheist, but I don't understand why do you need God to have a moral standard. Also it is not clear "What kind of god" is he talking about. Is he talking about the christian god or does it work with any god? Ancient societies thrived with multiple gods. Empires rose and fell, and the majority of them had no christian god. Nevertheless there was morals. The basic instinct of staying alive and thrive as a group and not wanting to suffer attacks from other groups of men makes you structure moral standards not to kill and to defend yourself. Anyway, as I've said, I'm not atheist, but the argument of "only with god you can have moral standards does not convince me at all.

The origin of the concept of "morality" can be found in our need for mutually cooperative behavior in order to maximize the survival potential of the species. We were acting "morally" towards each other long, long, long before we ever invented the word "morality" to describe it. Look at ANY social animal, or any animal whose chances for survival are increased by working in teams -- they're acting "morally" towards each other without even knowing what "morality" is.

The religionists vastly over-complicate / over-think what is really a pretty simple thing. But if it was a simple thing, they wouldn't need a God to explain it.
